I don't have sounds with most of the guns in the game. This also includes the guns in airplanes. Not sure why, but I don't get them. :nope:

I also get sound glitches where the sound doesn't stop unless I switch to something different. This only happens with the Opposition side. Not sure of the gun name, but it's the primary gun when selecting the second class from the top of the list.

Another thing that happens is that with some guns, I can get a sound after firing a round. It doesn't have to be a single round, it could be half a clip, whole clip, or any number of shots. I still only get a sound after I let go of the mouse button.

Only guns I don't have sounds issues with are the pistols, grenades, RPGs, and the primary gun that comes with the special ops on the Coalition side. They work fine.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!

I sorta skimmed over the post, but I sometimes have the same problem with bfv. I just turn my speakers off and on, or just leave them off. If worst comes to worst turn off the game and restart the game.

What are the specs of your computer, what is running in the background, and what are your in-game settings.

All this info is a must for me to help you.

Lower sound settings in the game options.

Modifying the games Default.con file to increase the soundBufferCacheSize may help. The file is located in the games directory at /Mods/bf1942/settings/default.con To open and modify this file take these steps:

1. Double-click on your My Computer icon
2. Double-click on the (C:/) drive.
3. Double-click on Program Files.
4. Double-Click on EA Games.
5. Double-click on Battlefield 1942 then click on Mods.
6. Select BF1942 then settings.
7. Locate the Default.con file and double click on it.
8. If prompted choose the 'Select the Program from a list' option.
9. In the list scroll to the bottom and choose 'notepad'
10 Locate the line that says: Sound.soundBufferCacheSize 100
11 Change the '100' to '1000'.
12 Now Save the file, close it and try the game again

Turtle Beach Santa Cruz Cards -Try using the following in game settings:

22khz sounds
High sound detail
Hardware acceleration enabled.

I would also delete all temp files located in your Windows Folder/Temp folder.

Often time sound distortions or repetitive glitches can be the cause of a bigger problem. Sound driver conflicts can be linked to not just sound distortions and glitches but random and specific crashes during a game. You can temporarily disable some of the advanced audio processing techniques to try and bypass these issues by lowering your DirectX sound acceleration. To lower your sound acceleration, do the following:

1. Click Start.
2. Click Run.
3. Type in DXDIAG into the available text field, and press OK.
4. Once the DirectX Diagnostic tool has loaded, click on the Sound tab.
1. This tab will show you your sound device and drivers.
2. Warning : Should this tab be blank, refer to your computer manufacturer for the proper sound drivers.
5. In the DirectX Features section, adjust the slide bar from where it is currently to Basic acceleration.
1. Warning : This may disable advanced audio features which worked previously in other games. Should you notice a negative change in any other game, simply change the acceleration level back to where it was or to Full Acceleration.
6. Click the Exit button.
7. Start your game, and verify that the game now works properly.

Turtle Beach Santa Cruz SoundCard

I had the same problems with the same card!! Card went bad.. switched it out with another and problem went away. Again I had the exact same card and it was just going bad.. sooner or later if you keep watching you will start to hear a decline in other programs sounds such as Winamp, mediaplayer etc..
Once you start to see it in other places it will set off that "Red" light! I'd replace the card...its not much maybe about 30$ for something slightly better to.

What motherboard? You probably have onboard sound that's as good as that.

UOD:
I did everything you said and nothing worked. When I opened the Default.con file and checked the soundBufferCacheSize it had a value of 200 instead of 100. I changed it to 1000 and there was no change in the sounds.

I also reduced the DirectX sound acceleration to Basic, but when I did that I wasn't able to use hardware acceleration. :nope:

I tried to delete everything in the Temp folder, but there's one file that I can't delete. The file name is ZLT03acf.TMP and Windows keeps telling me that a program or person is using it.

Sava700:
What are some good cards?

Edit:
I'm starting to think it could be the files. I just switched to my onboard audio and I still get the problems. If anyone could let me know what they installed and in what order, that would be helpful. Here's what I installed and it's order:

BF 1942
BF 1942 v1.6 Patch (Full)
BF 1942 v1.6b Patch (Update)
DC v7
DC_Final

I installed them that way because earlier I had issues with DC crashing to the desktop. So I searched and someone said to do this. So I uninstalled everything and did what I listed and everything worked except sounds. :(

When you switched to your onboard sound, did you set the Windows properties to use it and not the Santa Cruz? Did you uninstall the Santa Cruz?

Honestly, your TB Santa Cruz card is crap compared to your onboard 8 channel audio. I know the DSP chip that they put in there and it's top of the line. Uninstall and re-install BF1942/DC AFTER you ditch the TB card. Jutsa make sure you have the latest BIOS for your mobo as on-board audio is controlled by that.

Use driver cleaner pro top remove all traces of your TB sound card before you re-install 42/DC.
