i have pacbell dsl. my purchased speed is 1.5 mbps down and 128 kbps up. every test i have everdone shows these results: about 350 kbps down and about 100 kbps up. arggg. i want my damn speed. what can i do???

Try downloading from a fast server, rather than use Web Page speed tests.

try zipped files from

or

Head on over to the Lucas Arts ftp and download any file large file (~10MB) and see what kinda speeds you get. Lucas Arts FTP blazes. Even I get awesome downloads from them, and they're all the way on the West Coast.

man oh man, went to lucasarts, using DAP file size 122,186,390 start to finish 8 min 34.44 sec 344KB/s took longer to install the game than download it!! wow

Another good server is ftp.aol.com . I think its even faster than lucasarts.

Why does it matter? Just get a rather large file, download it, check your speed, then delete it.
