A few time a day my connection will just drop? I am using a speed stream5100 modem and I have sbc dsl! I am using a (REALTEK RTL8139/810x FAMILY FAST) ethernet card that came with computer that I just bought 2weeks ago! I have no viruses or spyware on computer! Every thing will be fine and then I will all of a sudden have the connection symbol in my task bar with the yellow triangle over it and no internet but I will still have ethernet, dsl, internet light lit up on modem but no matter what I do can not get connection back until I unplug everything from modem power it down and reboot pc and turn everything back on and then its fine! There is no specific time that this happens it will do it in the middle of downloading or just sitting idle, surfing, email just when ever it wants to and its real bugging me! My MoM live real close to me and I set up her sbc dsl same way and she has no problems .....sory for going on and on but dont know what else to do any ideas?

In troubleshooting disconnect issues like that, 3 areas I look at.
1) Modem itself might be bum, in which case calling your ISP support might get them to switch out a new one
2) Your line connection on your street, enough calls/complaints to your ISP might dispatch a lineman to check your connection on the street side.
3) Quality/condition of the phone lines from the street to your house, inside your house, up to and including your DSL jack in the wall. Every apartment and current house that I live in I have lines run brand new from the street, since my connection is important to me, and it's not really that expensive.

Other little things, is your modem on a quality surge protector or even a battery backup unit? It's not sitting on top of anything that gives off interference...such as sitting right on a subwoofer, right?
