I would like to know how to change my dynamic IP address on my home XP system. I have a Linksys WAP Router BEFW11S4 with Optimum Online.
I seem to have troubel cloning the MAC address because it just doesn't seem to be effective in retrieving a new IP. I know one method is to disable the connection/modem for about 24hrs or so. I cannot turn off the net for 24hrs lol. The net is my blood by now :)
Thanks for any helpl.
what are you trying to do?
I don't think you will be able to change your IP add that easily.
Unless you're talking about your Internal IP.
Not sure how OOLs system is setup though.

actually that wont work at all...even if it did..
since he would need to do it through his router
and I'm not so sure it would even give him a different IP address.
I suppose each system is diff so it might work..
I can click on renew IP all day long in the web interface of my router and it will still give me the same IP address

somtimes you are stuck with the same dynamic ip but if you relase the ip wait about 10 in theroy your old ip would be hand out and your should be getting a new one. I know with wow i could up to 3 ip's in a given time fram i frogot what is the frame.
The thing is, with cable modem providers the IP's are generally not taken very quickly since most modems stay connected 24/7 so the only modems drawing a new ip are those being installed at the time (which is unlikely to happen unless you leave it disconnected for several days if not weeks for your ip to be taken if it ever does). If changing your MAC address on your network device doesnt give you a new ip (gotta reset the modem after you change the mac on the router) then OOL doesnt assign IP's to MAC's like most other cable ISP's do. Not sure what to tell ya on this one.
