I can now die a happy man. My Comcast @home service is finally up and running!! I'd like to thank you wholeheartedly for all your efforts in helping me out. I know that if it wasn't for you, my service wouldn't be up and running now. If there's anything I can do to help you out, let me know. I work for a major airline here in Indianapolis (guess which airline =) and I can probably help you out if you need anything travel related (discounts, good seats, etc). Thank you very much again for you help. As my nephew would say, "you're the shiznit". =D
Regards,
Erin
By the way. According to DSLReports.com, here are my speeds--
West Coast Test
"1987kbps(Down)/97kbps(up)
At least 39 times faster than a 56k modem"
Since i'm new to high speed connections, how do my speeds fare against others?
Don't get too excited, plenty of things that can make your @home suck. Check for packet loss, if found can give you hours and hours of fun and brain spasms.

who cares if he has packet loss.. I am only proven to be at least 5 times better than 56k and I probably pay 10 bucks more than he does... sheesh

Repushing a modem is best likened to resetting a modem onto an account. Sort of a "I can't get the modem to go on the account, so I'll try again" type of situation...

The only question I have is whether or not my speeds are good. Here's a rundown of a very recent test I did on DSLReports.com, West Coast Server, after applying the Comcast patch found on this site--
"Your download speed : 2180649 bps, or 2180 kbps.
Browsers would show : about a 266.1 k/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 37914 bps, or 37 kbps.
Your upstream result was very slow! .. not good
Your connection rocks .. above the 1mbit barrier!"
Before applying the Comcast patch, I was only getting, on average, about 50-60kbps Download speeds. According to DSLReports.com, my "connection rocks!" (after applying the patch). What's your take on my speeds? I know that my Upstream is horrid. Anyway to fix that? Or are we capped here in Indy? Anyways, thanks again for all your help. You have my E-mail address if you need any help with travel arrangements. =D

Merry Christmas! http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/smile.gif
Atlus...you're getting pretty decent speeds if your sitting at 2Mbit plus on the download side...My experience has been that I've seen people's computers pretty much go from what you had to what you have now with the speedguide patch, so that's good...as far as the upload speeds, they're in the process of capping them to 128 kbit right now, and I think the west side is seeing that first (which would explain your upload speeds)...not much we can do with that unfortunately http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/frown.gif
Overall, tho, I'm pleased that you're up and running...that made my day yesterday to hear that (actually, that was probably the second best thing...I went to the Colts game http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/wink.gif )
Hey Altus, IndyOST..
IndyOST can you look at the thread we began earlier this week.. I am still dead in the water (this usually happens to me -- my luck)..
I have been through tech support with at home and I think it's the modem..
I am about to see if they can swap my modem as I have a store bought toshiba hooked up right now ready to go.. gotta be the modem or down the line..
I have the info from the modem and it's getting everything from the cable system it needs.. it's just not giving whichever computer i hook into it a address or anything.
Almost two weeks now!
Matt
Nevermind.. both modems I have online in the house here are working.. I put the Surfboard back in the box and the nic card and it's heading back to Comcast..
Getting decent speeds and I am capped at 128 which stinks but oh well.
I am glad to be online.. TOok me a couple hours on the phone with @Home and a modem reset, and putting my toshiba online.
Thanks IndyOST for your help locally, I will be putting in a word of recommendation for you and your extra effort for customers on your OWN time.
