Looks like there isn't any noise on your line and the transmit power is good...did you just try one of the test sites on dsl reports, or did you try both?

I also get the same slow speeds even though I've tried all the patches. I think it's something wrong at the head end, but they won't do anything about it.

I am also in New Jersey.

Hey Whats up Guys! I have @Home also and I am in Central New Jersey. My speeds have been decreasing lately and the other night I wan on the ohone with a rep...He was pretty cool and helped me a lot.....We discovered that my Gateway was overloaded, however my problem wasnt life threatening so they will look into it and get back to me this week......I may get my gateway changed, hopefully........However, my speeds at this time range from 50k-100k, but nothin much higher than that..........

im not getting 50kb im getting like 1 to 10 kb which is absolutely horrible. dsl reports just says im same speed as a 56k and sometimes it will say im 4 times faster then a 56k. if it is the gateway then i guess ill have to call comcast.

It depends where you are downloading from and if its a server then it depends on the other persons connection also......THose are good pings......You should get better speeds though..........What were you Download/Upload Ratios............How fast did @home say the max was.....Definitely use a patch if you haven't already.........You should be able to get speeds over 100k especially at 3:30 AM

Depends on what part of Jersey you are in....The gateway Im in is overloaded....So many people are using @home and the mnore people they squeeze into the gateway, the less bandwith evryone has.....Its horrible and very annoying.......

If my gateway was overloaded, would I ever be able to reach speeds above 100 kbps? I went on the Internet the other night at 3:30 AM and it was stil around 50 kbps. Also the @home tech support guy said that pings to the gateway were very good. The pings were about 20 ms.

bigwig, how are your pings to your gateway?
Have you run any tracerts to try and pinpoint the problem?

Here are the speeds I am getting from DSL reports:

Test from LA
** Speed 17(down)/125(up) kbps **
About modem speed!

Test from west coast
** Speed 50(down)/122(up) kbps **
About modem speed!

The pings to my gateway are 8 ms.

Does anyone know what might be the problem?

Thanks.

comcast@home screwed up here in Sacramento and overloaded their network for 3+ months. I was getting horrible speeds just like you guys. It finally took a news story that aired on NBC here in Sac that made them fix the problem. I wish you luck in getting the problem resolved if it is in fact that the network is overloaded.

Try running the command "tracert www.yahoo.com (http://www.yahoo.com) from your dos prompt without the parenthesis. See if and where your pings skyrocket. This will let you know whos problem it is. Make sure you run the same command at different times of the day to find out whether or not it is overloaded. If it is overloaded everything will go to crap at around 2pm and wont get better until somewhere around 2am. Save all of this data into a word file so that way you have proof to send to the awful tech support you will have to deal with (this will also help you get re-imbursed for the slowtime while their network is crap.

My problem is that I am getting great ping times but slow download speeds. When I did a tracert to www.yahoo.com (http://www.yahoo.com) at 4:40 PM, it averaged about 16ms to each hop. However, my download speeds are still about 1 - 5 K.

WHOA!! That really sux! You are probably going to have to deal with the horrors of tech support at this time. Sorry that didn't help.
