Charter Pipeline Sux!

Man I got my charter pipeline installed about 3 weeks ago (which is the only alternative to dialup that we have here in hurricane, wv) and it's done nothing but lag out in everything I try to do. I've tried every damn tweak in the book (mtu, rcvwindow, whatever) plus I know what i'm doing, I've trace routed everyone in the world and it is not me or my line it's charter and the networks that they use man they suck so bad, I cant even see the use of having this cable modem at all. I cant play any of my favorite online games without going link dead (asheron's call, everquest, diablo, quake etc etc) even when downloading a file in the wee hrs of the morning it will just FREEZE SOLID!!! I'm at my wit's end and I swear I lag less on my old 28.8 dialup with earthlink than on cable! GEEZ! Is the internet traffic that damn bad????? And what's worse we're capped at 500kps down/150kbps up (that's terrible) I give up....

How do you find out what you are capped at? I'm using Charter pipeline and I've been tring to figure it out but the people at charter seem not to know what I'm talking about. I used to get about 300Kbps now I get about 100Kbps or less, the tweakes din't seem to work for me either.

charter pipeline is by far the worse. i dropped em bout a month ago for dsl. its 5 times faster. charter at home however is another story.

I used to live in Birmingham AL, I was capped 900 down and i think 192 up.....
my D/L's speeds were SLOW as hell, 20kbps (for being capped at 900), then after about 1 week everything started timing out.....
CHARTER SUX
Oh yeah I talked to tech support about the time-out he said they would have it fixed in 24hrs so probs with a damn server
guess what It wasn't fixed after 1 week....

Alabaster AL, ha I used to live in Helena AL, well you're most likely capped @ 900, I called Charter and the person I talked to seemed to know what he was talking about, I think UP was capped @ 192 or something like that, I wrote it down back when it mattered but we've moved.....to the end of the world
