Well the commander thing is really simple.... you give orders and the others take orders! Your going to have to be really strict in this chain of command in order to use it effectivly.. I'm sure top clans will master it..... in pug games it might be just a waste of time since all of us simply want to go around and shot who ever however. It will require the commander to know everything there is in detail of the map and game play and those under the command to follow commands.. of as I would do if you don't follow the command you get booted from the game! Bottom line is you "Must follow orders!!" :)
The only armie is the us. What happened to weapons? G363? G3? what about the m-16?
There are a few typos and i think they screwed up on the m240, they say its a vehicle mounted belt fed weapon but they show an m-16

UOD-
|D| has Sins. He is apparently incredible with troop movements and such. Kin6 speaks highly of him in that respect and that in and of itself says volumes. |D| was a force of nature in 1942 with Sins at the strat helm, and a decent clan in Vietnam with a good talent pool. BF2 with the current talent and Sins it should be quite fun ripping a hole up through the ladders and CAL ranks.

Not everyone plays in a clan...the majority do not. I'm speaking of the public. How on earth do they plan to annoint someone to the CC position in a public match?
As far as I understand it, players with high rank are the commanders. If you don't play, you don't get points to command. It's a measure of your bf2 knowledge.

What if you don't want to be the CC?

Good question. There has to be different forms of gameplay, cause 10,000 15 year olds arguing over who's leader won't be pretty.

Exactly what I fear.
Let me make this perfectly clear....I don't think that the BF series is broken. I just think we're all ready for the eye candy.
It almost seems that EA thinks it is broken....but it's not. The BF series has not had that much time to mature and EA is effectively killing themselves by putting out 3 titles in almost as many years.
Case in point...Counter Strike. Valve let Counter Strike mature over the years and they didn't mess with it. this allowed the fan base to grow and mature as well. The only update to CS has been source. They really haven't messed with the game itself. So when source came out...it was like OMG...this is AWESOME! Putting out a new title every year isn't building the hype. Look at Doom 3 and HL2.
EA killed BFV by coming with the BF2 announcement so fast...hell, they have not even released the full WWII mod yet for Christ's sake! Did you even know that? Yes....EA is porting EVERY 42 map over to the WWII mod for BFV. This fragmentation of BF is killing it.
when you look at the server listing these days, the only thing that is stil heavily populated...is 42 and DC. All the other mods aren't doing so well but how could they? there is too much to choose from and not enough folks to populate all the damn servers.
So with all of that....what will BF2 do for us? Or rather, what do we want out of BF2? For me, I just want the eye candy. The CC position is nothing more than a glorified spectator...a server side tweak that can be easily implemented in the current BF config.
and this whole thing with the ranking system....I dunno. If I have to wait to reach a certain rank so that I can fly a damn plane...forget it. I'm not gonna wait.
It seems that DICe is really pushing for clan based play...and alot of folks are not into that.
I just don't know about this game. Have to wait and see I guess.
I think BF42's success has them trying to keep the drive alive with more BF series releases (rake in the coin while they can) and also when DC exploded as a mod, the light went on at EA. I just hope they come correct with BF2. The BFV release was far too sloppy imo.
Exactly what I fear.
...
Excellent post, I couldn't agree more. If it comes out this way, I won't be buying it.

Yup, same with PoE and a few other mods.
UOD, you think there will be an option (server side) to turn off commander, ranks, ect? Im hoping so!!

yes...because there simply is no fair way to implement this across the public servers where pubbers play. In clan action, I can see TWL and CAL rules in effect which will probably support the CC. I hope they allow the VoIP to be toggled off as well. TS and Vent have proven that they don't eat up the bandwidth....but maybe it will be better but I don't see how being that TS allows for so many channels/options. I don't wanna give up that control. We'll have to see how the VoIP portion affects framerates. If it's tied to the game, I don't see how it won't affect framerates especially if it's tied into their sound rendering engine. Alot of games are now offloading sound data to the CPU which imho..is bad. CPU's need to be left alone to feed data to the graphics board. hogging it down with sound and VoIP data could make some systems crawl...but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

The VoIP shouldn't effect it. I mean, Operation Flashpoint had VoIP and it ran great! But like you said...wait and see.
Yos,
Dunno where I heard it from. But I did here about Fogotten Hope and Point of Existence being exported over to the BF2 engine.
HERE (http://forums.totalbf2.com/showthread.php?t=974)
Totalbf2 is a great site for BF2 community updates.
Yeah I know PoE is being ported, read it in some interview with its designers.
Did you all c the levels of rank and division?
I think its set up 1.Commanders

I don't think Im going to like that. I will only be plaing on servers that have it off I think, LOL.
They should just set it up like UT2004 had it. Where you could talk to everybody on your team. That worked fine.

BF2 Demo Update
taken from the totalBF2 website.
In other news, our latest info on the demo suggests an end of March release, containing 2 maps - Gulf of Oman and the Wetlands.
This information is in no way publicly confirmed by EA or DICE, but comes from reliable sources within the aforementioned companies.
*Rubbing me hands with anticipation.*
