FACT:
Cable Modem performance decreases as more users come on-line.

QUESTION:
Are there any other Charter/HSA cable modem users experiencing poor performance between the hours of 4:00 P.M. and 10:00 P.M. eastern time?

FACT:
The thirst for more bandwidth is insatiable.

QUESTION:
Does anyone know how many users are assigned per node in Charter/HSA cable modem network?

COMMENT:
Overall, the cable modem experience has been satisfying. However, the intermittent performance pothots are annoying. What was promised and what is being delivered is somewhat different.

The Cisco Routers used by High Speed Access in the Georgia Area have users assigned via RX card. Generally, the cards that they use can support around 200-250 users, after that you begin to have SNR problems. Consequently, your speeds and downloads will suffer.

To answer your question, the NOC for HSA would have that information, and the number of users per area/card varies. And you would have to call them for that information.

If you having issues with speeds, post some traceroutes and pings and we may be able to figure where the problems stem from.

Thanks for the info, Rosco.

Next time I'll post Visual Traceroute results, and hopefully get to the bottom of this particular problem.
