I was wondering if there were any linux tweaks I could do to speed up my cable modem, i set the txqueulen on the device from 100 to 29440 and it seems to be uploading faster, i was curious if anyone can reproduce that, or if that is safe? and also if you have any tweaks for cable modems please post here, maybe we can get a linux cable/dsl tweaks page going. thanks (BTW to change the txqueuelen i did: ifconfig eth1 txqueuelen <NEW VALUE>"

To tell you the truth, I haven't really tried tweaking my Linux boxes too much. Why? Because they are already getting faster speeds than I am getting on my Windows box - with tweaks installed! Linux is designed to speed up network connections which means that your Linux box will generally smoke Windows boxes speedwise - without any tweaks at all.

Hmm, I can't seem to modify the txqueuelen value with the command you typed.

wow, i experienced the opposite. with windows (2000) i got higher speeds than linux when tweaked. untweaked the difference was marginal (linux still had a small edge).
