View Full Version : networking problem...help needed!
Set the other computers up w/a non-routable IP (eg. 192.168.0.2, 192.168.0.3, etc.) w/a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. Or, if u want to share ur cable modem, just add a second NIC to the comp w/the cable modem and use ICS (Win98se, Win2k, WinMe) or proxy software. On the second NIC, use 192.168.0.1 as the IP w/a subnet of 255.255.255.0 and set the other computers up dynamically (don't enter in IPs or subnets).

when i try to network my computer with the rest of my family's computer,it says hardware address problem or whatever with 24.18.214.130,my ip,and i know the cause of this is because they both are trying to use the same ip.i only want ONE to use my cable and the other just for file sharing and playing LAN games, they can use 56k and suffer i don't really care http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/smile.gif.is there any way can do this without the other using the cable and not getting that message so i can still use my cable on this computer?
