This is a prob where u need to call ur @Home provider and complain. UUNET is supposed to be very fast. The reason ur getting slow speeds is more then likely due to a network upgrade outside your backbone. You should call up your @Home provider and see whats really going on. And if they dont know call back and see if you can get someone smarter. Be specific where the problem lies. Hope that helps. But always try instaling a tweak from here (http://www.speedguide.net/Cable_modems/index.shtml). Hope that helps http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/smile.gif

Unfortunately, this is the Internet.
In response to MP3, if the Traceroute shows the problem as a UUNET one, the most HSA(The Company that provides technical service with Charter outside of St. Louis) can accomplish is contacting UUNET and let them know that a specific router is causing Network Congestion.

I need some help to figure out who I should start yelling at to try and fix my problem. Here's what has happened. Until about a month ago, my cable was great. I do a lot of gaming, and my ping was very good to all the servers I play on. Now my ping has almost tripled to the same servers I have played on all summer. One specific example is a server in Chicago that I would consistantly ping below 100ms. I am now pinging over 250 ms. I used NeoTrace and found the problem starts with a specific node. there are 19 hops from my computer to the server. My first 10 hops are great, but the 11th hop jumps up and every hop after that stays very high. I ping below 20 through my isp and connecting through their backbone is good also. The problem occurs when I leave the backbone and enter another group of routers. These routers are registered to a company called UUNET Technologies, Inc. My ping will go from under 50 ms to over 200 ms in one hop. How do I deal with the problem? Who is responsible for this bad connection and I can I get it fixed?
My ping is always better in the morning and afternoon and things start getting bad in the late afternoon and evening. This problem is not isolated to this one route, it also occurs using other backbones connecting to different servers. A similar situation occurs when I go through a system owned by BBN PLANET CORP. There are a few systems that are not affected and my ping is constant, however I do not understand why so many systems I am going through are suddenly givng me problems? Does anyone recognise this problem or have any suggestions who I need to talk to?

My cable complany is Charter Communications in St. Louis and they use Digital Broadcast Network Corporation as their backbone.

Unfortunately UUNET is pretty much the bacbbone of the entire internet amongst a few others like ATT so bitching to them probably wont get you much action towards fixing the problem.
