I am having trouble access a simple web server app on my Win XP SP2
box. I am forwarding the port to the machine running the web server,
but for some reason I am not able to get to it. I've tried disabling
the SP2 software firewall component as well as put the machine into
DMZ mode. That made no difference.
However if I install the same server on my laptop running Win2000 or
onto another desktop running Win XP (without SP2), I can access the
server from outside my internal network without a problem.
At first I thought it was the router not correctly forwarding the
ports, but when I was able to get it to work from the laptop and the
other desktop, that disproved that idea.
The laptop and working desktop are assigned dynamic IPs, while the
desktop that didnt work was assigned a static IP, so I changed it to
dynamic as well (made sure I adjusted the IP that I was forwarding
to)...but that didnt work either.
There is something about this particular machine that is not allowing
me to access the web server. I am not sure what else to try. Any
ideas?
