...and i'm fed up!
Ok,
Look @ this site...it is my own...and it is pics of me d/l speed, tracert, and speedtests.... http://members.home.net/kewlmatt13/speed.htm
This is what i get on a regular basis...and they say the exact same thing...everytime "looks like an issue from our side, i will send off a ticket...i'm sorry there is nothing i can do from my end". Well that is BS!!! I'm fed up w/ there lies. The steal from u! I pay (well my mom does) every month on time...and i am sitting on the phone w/ them every day! Now i am just pissed off..this is going to be the 3rd guy they have sent out to my house...and does nothing. First guy that came...did i sh***y speed test...got 100k...and left...did nothing else. Second guy comes..says my block sync is a little high...gives me a new modem..and "quickly" leaves my house! I dunno what this next guy is gonna do...but he is staying @ my house until the problem is fixed!

I looked at your site, and see that you had at least one ping to your default gateway that was over 2 seconds. It only takes one of these in the course of a transfer to cause the server that you download from to reduce the speed at which it transmits.
There is no indication of any problem out on the net except for the occasional high times, which I would bet are occuring between you and your default gateway. This can be caused by anything that is intermittent, and it may be very difficult for your ISP to find it, patience may be required.
I've noticed your posts before and understand you are a very young man. More power to you, and at your age I would have been less patient or polite than you are. Please do me a favor and think about your language. It is the mark of a gentleman and you will need it sooner or later.
Hang in there, keep after them nicely, and it will get fixed.

If you used to have a dialup and I assume you did you might try using the MTU patch thingie.
Even my 28k modem was faster

Eww, that is bad. But I hope you aren't actually using the @Home software.
Get rid of it fast and set your homepage to www or http://home.excite.ca/ for Canadians.
If you do want to install the @Home software for some reason, the latest version is 1.7 (1.8 is around the corner, if they do not completely abandon it) NO versions of the @Home software are compatible with Windows ME.

I had a problem with speed and had @home come out and checked my line, the first guy said, you need a new direct line to the modem because the line to the modem was shared and split with the tv's in the house, the second guy who came to do the work check the line and said the line is fine and left doing nothing, having knowing someone on the inside, they had a third person come down and check the line and said, yes you need a new direct, unsplit line to the modem, he did it and the problem was solved.
He said you must have a solid line right to your modem, UNSPLIT if you want good two way communication, even though a shard line may show a good signal, it wont work well.
ALSO, I know someone who had the same problem and did the same work to improve the performace, however the tech who came out said he had too much signal, after reducing it, they improved the speed of the line.
Two things to check for.

Kip:
Thanks 4 the advice...i have been patient w/ them since i was installed which was oct.20,00. It is now the jan,15,01...@ least 3 months and i have had this service! These have been my speeds ever since. This is now crap! I was nice b4...and i am always nice to ppl...but i am sick and tired of there lies...i can tell there are lies. Sorry about the language...u know like i said...i am just frusterated. (this sounds so funny comming from a 14yo boy...heh)
Nkd:
yes. It equals out to be slower than a 33.6 dial-up modem.
Zenops:
No. I would never use there software! It is crap. By the way....i am getting these speeds on a fresh format...and install of w98. I also did the same thing but w/ the speed patches...little improvment...but not much...it is there fault. NOt mine.
joel62:

Whats the difference between 1.7 and 2.0? Software better?
Heh
Matt
Latest for 'nadians anyways. I'm not sure if 2.0 works with the Canadian "wave" Shaw and Rogers @ home (Cox, roadrunner etc may be different). In British columbia, I think they may still only be using ver 1.2
Never tried 2.0 because I never suggest anyone download any of the software in the first place.
Well, here's my speeds with Shaw in the same area as you.
** Speed 1987(down)/353(up) kbps **
(At least 39 times faster than a 56k modem)
Logging result
Finish.
that's like my highest.

The first statement is pure BS, your second statement proves that.
I can tell you what happened. The first guy didn't know jack, the 2nd guy didn't want to do the work and the 3rd guy didn't know any better.
