I HATE THIS GAME !!!!
I have no more life ... I'm losing weight because I don't eat , I'm running off about 5 hours of sleep a night , my daughter is being neglected , my clothes don't get washed and my Ass stinks cause I stopped showering last tuesday ( Thats time to kill 5 more gnolls )
Trust me guys .... Once you get off Noob island it's a TOTALLY new game ..... The System Specs are STEEP.... Anything less than 768 Mem ( 1 gig really ) or a P4 2.6 and a 9800Pro shouldn't be attempted .... The world is HUGE !!!! I've no where near seen all of Antonica and it's only one area of the world. The group aspect if fun , PRetty easy to get into a group , and it really IS built for good balance on said team.
Spend plenty of time on Noob island , It's not that bad and you will be able to use those levels after getting to the city .... Also check into the Artisan quests on Noob island , that can very quickly become a Self sustyaining trait and also make you some loot on the side :)
I wish I would have done it , and even now have an alt so on the days I want a break from adventuring ( rarely ) I can load that one up and practice my Artisan skill sin hopes that one day I can bring that one to the New City and make my own recipes instead of having to wait to buy them.
I think alot of it is that without having a friend or two on line to play with you the game is not the same. If you get a friend or two with you then you will love it. Atleast if you really like running quests exploring and running for dear life to save your ass from some Baddy when the Healer missed yoru turn or the Fighter forgot to Aggro ....
I recently stumbled into a Guild by Just being nice. A couple of guys agreed to Group with me to take out one of my quests and kill these massivly strong chicks. Afterwards , I won the Loot Lotto and got a high level fighter Drop. .... So ... I handed it over to the Fighter who was asounded .. I then mentioned the ever mfamiliar "Need b4 greed". Next thing I know , me and a friend were invited to the Guild who was already #4 in most quests completed and #10 in most NPC kills per member death. ( server wide )
Over all , I'm glad we got in as now I have another agenda to further build our guild and make it stronger by completing tasks for the city. Thereby getting us cheaper horses, Armor, weapons and Various other things.
I hope some of you try it out WITH A FRIEND and make it atleast to level 12 before passing judgement.

its nice game and the world is huge :2cool:
- but there are games with bigger worlds
but its still only PvE and nothing else :(
- they really didnt bring anything new
maybe new expansion will bring some PvP :)
im playing it 1 hour a day the quests are interesting sometimes
when i do have more time im just hitting mobs over and over and over and over
guilds are limited so you cant have 100 people in a guild and same with groups not sure what are the exact numbers
btw if anyone is playing on Crushbone server let me know, nickname is Rivas level 9 Erudite Mage
other than that its excellent game for players starting with MMO and i would give it 3 stars out of 5

The world is huge!!!!! What zones have you explored? It is bigger then when EQ1 was launched..way bigger...
What level are you?
I am right now level 15..and having loads of fun.
I told you there won't be PVP, if they ever do add it, it won't be a huge part of the game. Everquest was never about PVP. So you kind of set yourself up for dissaopintment.
As far as the mobs go it any different then any other MMORPG...but even better...there are tons of variety...I mean compare it to shadowbane or coh which had no variety at all..this is like a goldmine. Have you checked out any dungeons yet like Blackburrow? That place is so much fun...and gives me such nostalgia from playing it in EQ1....or how about wailing caves?
Have you rode the griffon yet? That is awesome? What about explore the cities there is so much to discover..did you know there is a black market broker in an underwater tunnel in queynos that you can buy stuff from people who are in Freeport..that is just awesome!!
The immersion and the cities feel so alive...

not really...i mean yes it is an mmorpg..but ask any EQ1 player..and they will say it is nothing like EQ1...it has taken a lot of the good things they did in EQ1 and incorporated it into EQ2...but the game really is not anything like it.
As far as it being nothing next generation...there gets to be a point what else can be different except graphics? I mean you are sitting in front of a keyboard and a monitor..there is only so much MMORPG can be.
I am just not sure what you were expecting?
I am just not sure what you were expecting?
i didnt expect EQ2 crashing every 5th time when i enter different zone
and then waiting 5-10 minutes before my character time out so i can play again :p
also if you are looking for something you spend more time loading zones than actually playing
4 main classes ...lil bit low dont you think ???
next thing ...my friend is a lvl 13 summoner now and the pet stinks. It does not hold agro, tanks like a 3-year old girl and just sucks in general. They finally fixed the pathing so it follows you and you do not have to spam the follow command anymore.
There are HUGE balance issues between casters and fighters. My fighter can solo yellows in singles, whites in 2's, blues and greens in several numbers. Yet my summoner cannot solo a "white" mob with a pet. I was hoping to become a necro at 20 but do not think I can play the caster much more, it is getting too frustrating. We have 3 shields/buffs, 1 health-to-mana converter, 1 root, 1 DoT that stinks, and 1 nuke and almost no melee power.
There is WAY WAY WAY too much running involved. They need to have a faster transportation system in place or increase the run speeds on people. I spent 3 hours running around freeport yesterday doing "delivery quests" and most of the time it was just running up and down the hills because the cities are so huge with very little in them besides houses.
Spells - Also, they go in levels; apprentice I, II, III / Adept I, II, III / Master I, II, III. There will be a IV and V but they are not in-game yet. Only apprentice I & II can be bought, the others have to be player-made which kinda stinks to have to make them or buy them from another player at such low levels (you can use apprentice III at level 12).
ANd you are saying there is nothing better than EQ2 ? "As far as it being nothing next generation...there gets to be a point what else can be different except graphics? I mean you are sitting in front of a keyboard and a monitor..there is only so much MMORPG can be. "
Well you can keep your graphics GH seems like you like it, i was looking for game play and thats something what EQ2 is missing
If this is next generation MMORPG's ....oh my god please help me

Teh largest Guild in Game is currently 200+
Maybe no Raid parties bigger than 64 .

I think this is your system or Internet. I have only been disconnected twice in the 30+ hours I've played. and Zoming only takes me about 10 Seconds.
I can't speak or other classes , But I know I can solo , Yellows no problem and multiple blues and greens as a LVL 16 Rogue. My friend is a Sorceror , who has little Defense but can drop a nuke like no ones business. Which to me is balance.
Yes the running can be a pain , but that's part of the Huge world. The J-boots make a small difference and the Griffens make a HUGE one. There will be oppurtunity to get horses in the future , but right now no one can afford them so they are not even in the game yet.
Graphics ARE incredible , Although I'm getting Some pretty bad screen skipping on Balanced in Antonica and REALLY bad on Balanced in Town ... but to me ( maybe it's cause I'm knew to MMORPG games ) it's freaking incredible the detail and work that went into making this a Fantastic
Game !!

well a few things...
1) The classes are extremely balanced...at different levels though a class might look like it might be powerful then the other but in the end they are all pretty much equal. I am a lvl 15 sorceror and trust me I can solo real easy If I want to. That the thing if you want to play solo you doing the wrong game. EQ and EQ2 was always about grouping not soloing. you can solo but grouping is highly encouraged. Once you hit level 20+ grouping is really the only way to expreience efficiently..because you want to take on group mobs not solo. Yes you can solo all the way to 50 if you want...but that will be really slow.
2) I have not played in Freeport..so no clue..but in queynos we have griffons that take us to different parts..I usually dont run more then 2-3 minutes to where I am going...in your other post you complained the world is too small now it is too big?
3) I have all of my spells are app3 from level 1-15...it really is not that expensive, on my server they sell for 3 SP..the higher level ones do sell higher but you should be able to afford that by time you get there. I really recommend going to app3 as soon as you can they make a huge difference in how much damage and how your spells do. Adept 1 is even better..I have 4-5 main big nuking spells that are adept 1, and they make even more of a difference....they drop very frequently, and people usually sell them for 10-15 sp. I knwo people who are playing both summoner and sorceror like myself and i have not heard any complaints about damage and being effective.'
Not only that but it encouraes crafting..and crafting in EQ2 is way better then EQ1...granted there are still some bugs which is expected from any new mmorpg...but the crafting system has lots of depth and really helps to make the player economy very interdependent

Artisan groups aren't the only social structures in EverQuest II. Guilds are as important as ever, although they're handled quite differently than they were in the original game. Once again, creating a more intimate experience is the goal: developers are aiming for an ideal guild size of about 12-36 active members, and they're finding creative ways to keep guilds small.
A guild's status with a city can degrade over time if the guild isn't actively helping the city, and that's how guild sizes are balanced. Larger guilds lose their status faster -- so, while it's possible to have a guild with 100 members, it'll be really difficult to keep it in high standing. Sony hopes that this will allow smaller, well organized guilds to still be relevant -- again, making the game experience more intimate, and giving more people the chance to feel what it's like to lead powerful guilds.

the reason why they did that was because in EQ1 unless you had a guild with over 100+ active members..you could never raid the high end zones.
Most guilds that were raiding and had over 100+ members, were hardcore who required you to logon and play 6 hours a night 6 nights a week...most people who have lives cannot do that..so what ended up happening is many players never even got to see Time or end zones in GoD in EQ1
So I think Sony learnt from its mistakes and designed the raid encounters to be able to be handled by a smaller group of 12-24 people...but if they did that and guilds got too big, it would be a piece of cake for them to complete.
Personally I rather be in a guild with smaller tight knit family then 100+ people who many might only care about themselves. Quality is better then quantity.
well a few things...
dont agree with you at all but im gonna stop arguing  :D
i started new character ,sorcerer and im at level 9 and they are sending me to wizard towers to pass my trial ...I cant find any more wizard towers except that one in south queynos.

it is called mage tower and is in south queynos only one there.
Who is it you have to speak too?
BTW, here a nice little tip, if you dont know where an NPC is right click on a Guard and click find NPC, then type the NPC name, if the person is closeby he will then point and give you that waypoint line to find him. It is best to find the patrolling guards because they seem to travel the city a lot more and know where most NPC's are

I have chosen to become a sorcerer.
AFter this final test I Shall have proven myself worthy.
I must enter the trial in the room that Niksel setup inside the mage towers.
OK,im inside mage tower in SOuth Queynos and there is no trial room.I was talking with every person inside and no go.

When you go into the tower there are 3 portals each different colors. I think you take one on left but I cannot remember, try em all out when you go into it ports you to second floor or third maybe...and then look around there is a door and click on it and it will start your trial

Thats why you never buy a mmorpg when it first comes out :P ALWAYS atleast 3 months worth of bugs that need to be sorted out.
