I just downloaded the new Cablenut 4.0. I have Win98, and I have a cable modem. I installed the Cablenut patch (I previously used Cablnut 3.65) and now what do I do?

I read the readme.txt, and it said something about using the .css files that were included. So I went to to the Cablenut folder and clicked on the fast cable for 95/98/Me and it brought me to a tweaking screen. I'm not a tweaking kind of guy, so I pressed cancel and got out of there (by the way I restarted my computer already at this point).

Now, I thought the cablenut patch was supposed to do everything for me, but what the heck is that tweaking screen?

I took a tweaktest, and some things were screwed up.* Please wait up to 30 seconds.. collecting data
* Some tests failed.
* Your RWIN 8192 is too low

Your RWIN limits you @200ms to 327kbps
Your Path MTU Discovery is ON

Call me a newbie, but I need help. The previous cablenut patch made my RWIn about 511000 something, and this thing messed everything up. Am I supposed to use the tweak, or what???

Yes you are at default sir and we have our own tweak tester now, do this:

on desktop click on cablenut 4.0
Click on ccs files
then click on cable
Select either normal cable or fast cable (See instructions)

this will enter settings
click on save to registry at bottem, reboot or it will not work.

If you decide to remove Cablenut's patch, use uninstaller in Cablenut 4.0 folder on desktop. This will take you back to Windows default.
1. Go to http://forums.speedguide.net/optd.shtml and click on check connection.
2. Copy all this by highlighting everything in box with mouse
(you may have to make box smaller. To copy contents of box, highlight, then hit Ctrl & c, on your keyboard, when you return to Speedguide in reply box, with cursor blinking, hit Ctrl & v, this will copy contents in box so I may look at it. Thank you.

TCP options string = 020405b40103030201010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 204400
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 2 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 51100
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 8176 kbps (1022 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 3270.4 kbps (408.8 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 52 hops
TTL value is ok.
Note: Since TTL is decreased by at least 1 with each hop, the value above is equal to your TTL minus the number of hops to forums.speedguide.net

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000
Precedence (priority) = 000 (routine)
Delay = 0 (normal delay)
Throughput = 0 (normal throughput)
Reliability = 0 (normal reliability)
Cost = 0 (normal cost)
