Try to make an alternate Email account specifically for Spam (A Honeypot) so when you go to sign up for a website that may be questionable, you can always just use it to get a confirmation email or for furuture use create a filter to seperate it to a Custom inbox in case its something you want to seperate.

I Have tried Mailwasher and even tho it pretty much labeled the spam..it was still a lot of work and once blocked and bounced back , I think it still gave the spammer the idea it was an active email

I went ahead and purchased a subscription to Yahoo mail. I get 2gigabytes of email space, it has built in spam filtering, built in Anti-virus filtering, as well as "Disposable email addresses" that you can create and use if you think a website is shady. It can be deleted if you are finished with its use. Another little feature is the ability to Add your POP3 (No Imapi right now) emails to your Yahoo mail for Sending and recieving as well. You also get spam filtering as well as the ability to create rules to place a message in its proper place, bu Subject text or message body text. I used to recieve about 200plus spams a day and now get about 30-40 which is much less time consuming to sift thru, and once you add a spammed address to the database it helps to keep that same message from going to others as well.
On a non spam sidenote...you also get to send files up to 10megabytes in size . The cost is 19.99 for a yearly subscription...not bad seeing I spent 29.99 for Mailwasher

I definitely recommend "I Hate Spam" as an Anti-Spam utility. It has a 30 day trial and then costs $19.99 to buy. Excellent program. :thumb:

If you need spam removal software, be it for the individual, or company wide....
http://www.cloudmark.com/ gets my vote.

Choose your e-mail hosting wisely. Most of the better web/mail hosting places have good spam and virus filtering these days, so choose your mail host wisely. Yeah it costs more, but especially when you're having company e-mail hosted, this is one area you don't want to cut back on..."Hey, you get what you pay for."

Have a junk e-mail account for those places that you need to fill in a valid e-mail address to, so you can get something. Be careful giving away your valued e-mail address.

If you have a company website with e-mail links in the "contact" section...have your e-mail encoded there, so the spam harvesting spiders don't find your e-mail addresses and add them to their spam databases.

Never reply to those spam mails which have some "Click this to remove me from your list" button on the bottom...that's a dirty trick, only confirms to them that your e-mail address is valid, and now you're REALLY going to get hit with spam, and your e-mail address will be upgraded on the spam value list.
