Note: Some installations of Windows may use different names for the Windows folder. Substitute the name of your Windows folder for either Windows or Winnt.

Make sure you rename your HOSTS file to "HOSTS" without the .TXT extension.

PGP Signature
=============

The HOSTS.TXT.sig file is a cryptographic signature and not a part of the hosts file. If you are not running some 32bit version of PGP then you don't need it and may discard it. The purpose of the PGP sig is to allow PGP users who have added my public key block to their keyrings to verify the HOSTS.TXT came from me and has not been tampered with or altered by a third party. If you download a hosts file purported to be from me which fails a signature check, don't use it!! Report the incident to me at hphosts@yahoo.com.

My public key block may be downloaded from the following locations.

Hi Gang!

Today I am introducing a new Critical Updates feature to hpHOSTS.

In between hosts updates I often become aware of sites which are dangerous because they exploit their visitors in one way or another, but for various reasons I'm not always able to immediately update the hpHOSTS in response to these threats. To solve this problem I am now making these hosts entries available in a separate critical updates file.

The Critical Updates File (critical.txt) is not a hosts file but will contain entries which users can manually add to their current version of hpHOSTS. This file will only include confirmed exploiters (hijackers, spy/malware pushers, phishers, fraudsters and any other types of low-life exploiters we find. You will still need to update to the most recent version of hpHOSTS to get the latest updates for blocking ads, trackers, common spammers and so on.

The first edition of hpHOSTS Critical Updates is available for download now at the URL below. Please check back daily to keep your hosts file up to date.

I have added a critical updates feature to hpHOSTS (see above POST for details). It isn't a full hosts update so there is no need to modify the last update date to the hpHOSTS line above but you might want to add the most recent critical update date (today) to that line. The download link is the same.
