I dropped the old server tonight, and changed the new server to the old IP address, 69.24.42.69

Currently it's running BF:Vietnam, and StarWars Battlefront.

Did a few more tweaks.

New London, CT. Currently on a 20 meg frac OC-3....this spring going up to 40 megs as he's growing. While it doesn't sound like a whole lot of bandwidth for a data center, the key is...the amount of use that the pipe gets, ratio of hosted servers to available bandwidth. He also has several T-1s, one of which our SG TeamSpeak server is on.

Friday nights is the only time that the bandwidth is going to be pushed, for Franklin.Nets radio talk show, which can nudge 10 megs at peak times of his show. Add the rest of the "normal" traffic, and the fact that our game server can nudge 6 megs upload when packed..that's really the only time we'll feel some pressure, because Rich promised Franklins all the bandwidth he can use for his talk show.

Co-lo's are $250.00 for a 2 meg connection. It's flexible though, you're not outright capped at 2 megs at the switch...you're watched for a while to see your average use.

We're gonna have some cool stuff there soon, it's growing!

That's a bit much then what I was looking at. I'll stick with my dedicated server, I get all the bandwidth I can eat for $139/month. :D

Sounds like things are looking good for SG, with that new gameserver and a new TS server on the way. Keep up the good work YOSC! :thumb:

isnt it cheaper rent a server ?
for 100mbit you pay 50 bucks/month ,1000 GB bandwidth limit/month (120gb hdd,linux,512mb ram etc)
way faster and cheaper IMO
