I have a buddy that has this problem :(
Does anyone know what this could be? Some sort of virus? weird off XP setting?
Here's the email he sent me:
"Ok not quite, but a virus of some sorts has screwed my puter. All of my programme .exe files are missing, thus the shortcuts that connect to them are blank and try to 'browse' for .exe for the programme in concern, plus nearly all of my folders 'appear' to be empty. :( Have you ever heard of this before or know how to get any of it back. I had Norton anti-v, but didnt pick anything up, so I just bought McAfee today with firewall to go with Zone Alarm which I now use. Yeah yeah, too little too late, just wandered if ya ever come across this prob before so I can get some files back. I've searched around on the net, but cant seem to find anything. Also, everytime I click on my computer or any folder or browser, before it open it comes up with the Windows 'Installer' window then I cancel that and it says it had prob with c:/...... money... something."
