View Full Version : RR connection problem
Alright, over the past 2-3 days i've been having problems with my RoadRunner connection. All the lights on the cable modem are on (power, cable, pc, and even the data one shows activity), but every few minutes it seems I lose my connection. All the lights stay on, but all internet traffic stops responding (surfing just hangs on "connecting to site", and I get disconnected from AOL Instant Messenger). Everything hangs for about 30 seconds to 1 minute, then returns to normal until the next incident.
I'm thinking it may be an IP conflict, anyone agree? Or does anyone have any suggestions? Any help would be appriciated. Thanks.
I had a problem like that once and it was the splitter, where the cable comes from the pole outside your house they put a splitter onit, one cable to your TV, the other to your modem, the one coming to my modem was not carring enought signal, that's a cable company probleem if that is what it is :)
Eh I was hoping it wasn't a cable company problem.... ;)

So we ended up with intermittent connections/horrible TV pictures for 3 days. Took the tech that came out last sunday 30 seconds to fix it. Now I have to call em again it looks like...arg...
Thanks for the reply Lobo :)
**UPDATE**
LOL this has to be the weirdest problem i've ever dealt with..
I have the computer w/ cable & a cable TV in my room. Before, I was having the connection problems and the TV wasn't on. Turned on the TV about 10 minutes ago and boom, haven't had a problem with my connection. :)

Date: 2/4/2001 11:21 AM
We are currently working on a cable plant issue in the Perinton area. Affected nodes are 413, 418,421,422. Customers may see slow speeds, flashing cable lights and loss of connectivity while we are working on the problem.
--Well, that explains my problem :)
Also, I reset my modem a few hours ago and everything has been working smoothly since. Thanks for your help guys.
Wish mine was that easy to fix and get along with!
