I just upgraded my Ram to 768 from 256 are they any setting that I might wanna change to really get the feel of the speed..I could notice it when opening programs but sometimes you cant tell the Diff??

is 253424 KB of ram faster than 768 mb of Ram?

What operating system are you running? If 2K or XP, no, no settings, as NT is fantastic at dynamically adjusting to RAM.

768 megs is more than 256 megs. Machine should run faster on that.

I was looking at another Comp and it was reading 253424 KB of Ram is that faster than 768 MB of Ram??

You will not notice any difference with system speed with additional RAM, unless you were running starved processes in the first place.

In other words, if you were running say, your mail client and your web browser, you won't notice a diffence in speed. However, if you were running that, and a program like Photoshop, you'd notice the speed difference.

In other words, more RAM doesn't really speed up the processes. It speeds up access to those processes. Otherwise, your system must pull the processes back and forth from your hard drive.
