[FONT=Arial][SIZE=7][COLOR=Black]I've been struggling with Verizon DSL since April. Recently I had to restore my Sony RS420 to the factory condition (spyware infestation). I did it 3 times to learn details (incl. the modem). I added a D-link DI624 router as a firewall behind my Westell 2200 modem. I set up the router according to the quick guide, w/o using the firmware upgrade yesterday and removed the Norton Internet Security from my Sony. I tested it at the Verizon website and obtained 280/40 (I can accept this). The mistery is I can't even open my browser in the afternoon and on (in Virginia). This morning the speed was down to 177 at 7:30 am. Now it is probably below the 56K mark. I know there are so many variables. Is the speed also traffic dependent? I always thought that the speed is a constant (relatively). Can anyone help to improve this situation? I am located about 12,000 ft from Verizon CO. Thanks a lot.
