Have checked all FAQ's, and can't find the answer (really). So at the risk of irritating most of you, will someone take pity and tell me the sequence for power cycling (terminology?) my cable modem and computer. I have cable internet, RCA USB cable modem, Intel Pro 100 VE Network Connection, coaxil cable, power cord, ethernet cable, no USB connection, and, left to right indicator lights are: Cable Activity, Cable Link, PC Link, Internet. Have got a long road of troubleshooting ahead and read that correctly powering up the modem is the important first step. So when I disconnect the three cables from my modem, have them laid out in front of me, and I say ready set go, what goes where first, and lights should do what? (If you had a morons-only forum I'd have gone there, but...). Thanks

Well, that sequence I knew. I read on an old cable forum, though, first plug in the power cord to modem, wait for one light, then plug in ethernet, wait for two lights to come on, then cable, wait for three lights, wait for blinking to stop; their senior forum member stressed the importance of following a specific order. And I couldn't find the old post, and didn't recall the sequence. Or was the post in jest; I'm too new to know the difference.

You are plugging the right wires into the right holes on the router. Right? There is an order/sequesnce/right way- wrong way to it.
