Alcatel USB Modem Gone Bad????

Thursday...
I leave my pc running connected to Bellsouth.net on my Alcatel USB adsl modem.

Friday...
I come home from work and my adsl light on my modem is blinking green 10 times then it will blink one red time. I dial up Bellsouth tech support and after about 40 mins on the phone with the guy trying various things to get it working he tells me that it is a bad modem.

Can this be? I have had this modem one week and it goes bad?? My pc did not reboot when I was away so I think I can rule out a power drop/surge. I also tried unplugging all the other phones in the house, with no change in the modems performance.

Has anyone else had there USB modem do this?

The modem may have been used some where else before you got it. Or was just bad out of the Package. I really don't think it was anything you did! GoodLuck!Don't worry they will replace it reguardless weather it was a power surge or just bad.

I have same setup that you have........mine is always on. Never had any trouble with it. You probably just got a bad one from the beginning.
