Down ranges from 56Kbps from really slow servers to occasionally 3Mbps (300KBps)from really fast servers (such as microsoft's). Average down is about .95-1.0 Mbps on most servers. Up is usually around 256Kbps.

aDSL quite far from CO, 1.5/128 package, 685/115 benchmarked, but only 3 hops to gateway and backbone of ISP, so pings are fantastic! I'm usually one of the lowest pings on any server.

OOL cable.

Oh, and Matt, try that with a larger file, as you even pointed out, everything is inaccurate for the first 10 secs or so. To get your REAL speed, try a file at least 20MB and take the screen shot at the very end.

Iv only gotten that kind of speed 2 times ever. My speeds are usually around 100-200kb/sec d/l. I just 1 day remembered that i needed dx and i went 2 download it. And i was just watching. And all of a sudden it hit the MB's and i was like, wow  , so i quickly pressed the Print screen button and saved it. I guess i was just lucky!

My max speeds with Optimum Online are 10mbps down/1 mbps up.
My usual speeds are 5-6.5mbps down, and 800-1000kbps up. Sometimes I can get up to 8mbps off fast ftp sites.
My pings are also good, which makes me totally happy, lol :)

ok i ain tposting speeds but i want to know what is the fastest that cable can upload and download and dido for cable satilte and t1,t3, and any thing else out there any one know? "i am talking the speeds they can atchive not what your gona get"
tomsykes
04-28-01, 08:45 AM
It is almost impossible to give you "speeds that they will get", because that will be influenced by so many factors;
a select few are listed:
Single channel ISDN - 64kbps
Basic Rate ISDN - 128kbps
T1 - 1.5Mbps
T3 - 45Mbps
E1 - 2Mbps
E3 - 34Mbps
ADSL - ~8Mbps
Cable - ~30Mbps
Ethernet - 10Mbps
Fast Ethernet - 100Mbps
STM1 (OC-3 for the americans) 155Mbps
STM4 (OC-12) 622Mbps
Gigabit Ethernet - 1000Mbps.
STM16 (OC-48) 2488Mbps
STM64 (OC-192) 9.6Gbps
The last five are commonly used in the internet backbone. We have multiple upstream connections at work - via fast ethernet, and STM1. The only limit really is the power of the router. The links havent been maxed yet.
2574kbps down
369kbps up

04-28-01, 07:58 PM
those last five would be a dream to have but.... they probaly cost a arm and a leg to
know any ftp servers i can up and down load to test my speed? maybe on one of those last five lines?just send me a message
