Having sites with high PR themselves link to you is the fastest way - passes more PR on to your site.

Do you want this for google or just for bragging rights? More things than PR affect your Google placement.

Ok, I was wanting to get a higher pr ranking to increase the traffic to my site, but after reading your post, it seems like that's not the only way to do it.

I now have approx. 500 unique vistors per day.
