View Full Version : LCD Displays
I recently went to a gaming convention (spectator not participant) and saw a case with an LCD screen that scrolled through information like CPU temperature, fan speeds, PC specs, even the weather downloaded from the internet. I've seen a number of thermal monitors and such, but none that even showed the current weather! Where would I find this item?
Thanks guys.

I just found out that the display that I saw was a matrix orbital. www.matrixorbital.com Does anyone have any experience with these, or can compare them to those listed above? Thanks again

Sorry forgot the Matrix in my previous post.
I've used both the Crystal Matrix and the MatrixOrbital LCD displays.
I like the CrystalFontz 631 for the 3.5 drive bay. But read in their forums about it's curernt software capability. i.e. they have in the features that it can also be used as a security dongle, but in the forums you find out that is a custom option. Their basic software works good but is limited for custom graphics. There is a revision coming out but it seems to be taking a while. The 633 model has fan control (4). You can download thier software for free and simulate the LCD on your screen.
The Matrix MX4 series I installed in a friend's machine. You can also connect 4 fans. It took two drive bays though! You could always mount a hardrive behind them but if your short on external drive bays... Easy to install and since I was limited in time I did not get to play too much but he loves it.
There is allot of 3rd party software out there for both these systems, in fact you could have one from each company and use one software package to control them both. From what I've read and seen you're pretty safe with either of these two.
You can try downloading some of the free 3rd party software packages out there and run them in Simulation mode to see what the capabilities of each display is. It's really neat what you can display on these now and so easily!
