am having trouble with printer / file sharing between several computers on my home network. It's setup as follows:

1. computer #1 (winxp)
- connects to the internet via cable modem
- has a laser printer
- nortons internet security

2. computer #2 (winxp)
- dads computer

3. computer #3 (winxp)
- my brothers computer

4. computer #4 (win2k)
- my computer
- sygate personal firewall

all 4 computers are connected to each other via a hub, and all can access the internet. computers #1, #4 have been freshly reformatted this week.

I would like to access files from computers #1,#2,#3 from mine (#4), and visa-versa. I can access shared folders on computer #1 from mine (computer #4), but can't see my computer #4 from computer #1.

I don't really understand a lot about networking / workgroups / etc... I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.

I just noticed that if I turn off my firewall (comp #4, sygate firewall), I can see my computer from computer #1. XP asks me for username and password!

Create user accounts with your user name and password on systems 1,2,3

Set your Trusted Computers Zone in the Firewall to allow free access between local computers (IPs).
