View Full Version : MKS_Vir 2004 and eXtendia AVK
Has anyone tried these products? I heard they were an amazing product but the MKS_Vir 2004 site is in Polish.
eXtendia AVK is duel engined, RAV + KAV engines (Reliable AV + Kaspersky AV)

Huh...interesting about the MKS,
http://www.mks.com.pl/english.html
" is designed for the Polish user. It means that the aim of the program is providing the best possible protection against viruses roaming around Poland. One of the viruses' features is their partly-local character. It means that within the group of viruses particular for a given country there are some specimens from all over the world, as well as local viruses hardly known anywhere else in the world and rarely existing out of that country. As a result, the greatest scope of safety is provided by locally-designed products. Even the best-known, global software companies are not able to react fast enough to the appearance of a big number of new viruses that have not been heard about anywhere else."
Had heard about Extendia...and I imagine we're going to hear a lot about them soon, since Microsoft purchased their pro engine. What that means for the future of Extendia...hmmm... But it sure looks interesting. That pro version, with the dual engines, curious on the system performance hit.
I do like the look of their network client/server version...I ran through that slideshow they have of it, good looking package.
I have Kaspersky PErsonal 5 right now, I am thinking of installing MKS.

I can tell you with all assurances, both of these products are some of the finest antivirus products on the market.. I've personally tested both products, and they both consistantly score 99-100% on my malware samples.
MKS is exceptionally light, fast, has superb heuristics, and GREAT technical support.. Its got a strong database of threats, and the product continues to evolve.. I highly recommend this product!
eXtendia AVK has a massive definition database, 98,000 for its Kaspersky Engine, and 125,000+ for its RAV engine. Sure many overlap, but many don't, so it provides deep definition based detections.. But its heuristics are horribly lacking, and it can be a fairly substantial draw on your PC's speed depending on your configuration of it.
You can't go wrong with either, and it just depends on your applications, and what you want out of your antivirus product.. If you do purchase AVK though, i'd like to point you to the official AVK support forums if you have any more questions about the product; http://boredmofo.com/forums/index.php
