Hey I got your e-mail, did you get mine back?
Anyway, I did a speedtest today on dslreports.com and I got a 2.6mb speed. Doesnt seem like you need to come out anymore. My speeds are fluctuating all over the place though, so I suspect cable company, not my system. The last couple of days the service has been on and off, but when it finally comes back on, I have been getting better speeds each time. Maybe their fixing some stuff. I think I'll call a tech out to replace my line from the pole, it was there when I moved in 5 years ago, so I don't know how old it is. Again, I think my tweaks are fine now, its just whether I'm gettin good feed from @home. Thanks anyway.
You said you play online games, do you play counter-strike? I got a 50 ping on a server yesterday, I was very happy.
Good day!!

Sorry 'bout the response time...just want to let you know that the Lawrence router (which you and I are both fed out of) has been having some major problems the last couple of days, which may explain some of the problems that you have been having...hopefully they got it fixed this afternoon (not sure - I'm off work today http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/smile.gif )

Yeah, I've been callin Comcast and getting credit anytime system is down. Got home from basketball this afternoon and modem light was blinking yellow, when it finally went green again, thats when I did that test that gave me 2.6mbps. Hope it stays this way.

By the way, what do think is the best speedtest page, i've been using dslreports.com and cable-modem.net. Is there on you use that gives you accurate speed in your opinion.

C/Net's got a good one, plus I use the dslreports one as well...you can go to my web page to get the link to the c/net one: http://www.geocities.com/indyost

Yeah, here's what I got on dsl reports:

That cnet test is way off - at least for me it is. I believe dslreports.com and 2wire.com are the most accurate, along w/ d/ling a large file from a fast site, such as 3dfx.com, nvidia.com, download.com, etc.

The dsl reports site is my current favorite, and the c/net one used to be a lot better than it is now...they've gone in and monkeyed with it a bit, I think.
Granted, none of these sites are 100% accurate, but at least some of them are getting better at it...

If I get home tonight and my speeds suck again, do you think you can come out and check my registry settings ,etc. If not, cool but I would like to have the same settings as you since we are on the same router.

Although I enjoyed a few new speed test I found on your site INDYOST, you left off one of my favorite free testers.

No problem...I've been using that one myself, but I just haven't updated the web site to reflect that speed test site yet...hopefully the site will be updated in the next day or so http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/smile.gif

Not as good as earlier today, could be web traffic, etc. Anyway, dont let the weathermen scare ya, they always predict high
so people will watch. I bet we only get 2 inches. I'll be home all morning if you get a chance, if not , maybe some other time.

You have some really cool download and uploads there, I guess it really pays off to work with your own provider *lol*

It's nice in regards to if anything goes wrong, all I have to do is pick up my nextel and I know exactly what is going on inside of 5 minutes. But what I really like is the knowledge that I've gained in the last 18 months regarding how different systems work. I had a pretty good grasp on computers & networking when I started, but the fact that I work on about 10 different computers a day gives me an incredible amount of variety as far as different problems to troubleshoot...

Yeah, took my wife two hours to get from 116th & Meridian over to 75th and County Line RD...it was nuts...
Yeah, I troubleshoot everything from the tap at the pole to the computer itself...if it looks like the cable needs replaced, then we can do that...hopefully it won't come to that http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/wink.gif
I'm gonna go in early to work tomorrow to try and knock out my morning work so I can get over by your place around 11 or so to take a look at what you've got...
