Question about placing internet shortcut in Startup folder for automatic connection??

Basically I made a shortcut for my connection on my desktop and then moved that into my startup folder so it will automatically connect when I load windows. Problem is that when windows loads, my internet connection always seems to take a while to actually connect apart from if I would just double click it on my desktop where it would then be quite fast. Anyone know why it's taking so long to execute the connection when in my startup folder and how to remedy this?

It probably is getting bogged down by other items in the startup cycle. If you do not put it at the end of the list for startup, then perhaps this is the case, this is just my guess I coulent tell you for sure.
