with the ping there isnt' anything you could do about itLike Sir McCoffee said... we can help you maximize your upload and download speeds, but pings are something controlled by your ISP. Best to give them a call and see if they can do something for you. We'd like to help... but it's out of our control.

Well....can only do so much. Most of it is up to your ISP, and based on what they use for their backbone, and from there...the route to your destination (AA server).
Doing a ping from your prompt, will give you different results from your actual gameplay ping experience. Two totally different types of packets. Your in-gameplay ping is almost always higher...due to the type of packets, the overhead of your network connection and a constant stream, the overhead of your computer running the graphics and many other functions of your game, antivirus real time protection and software firewalls possibly in the way slowing things down, etc.
Add to that...cable often isn't very steady, depending on your ISP, and your location...you might have heavier loads on your node at times. The percentage of over-sell your ISP did, density of your area, etc.
If you're playing from overseas....your online play is bound to be a little slower than if the server was in your country. I play Battlefield '42, Desert Combat, and Battlefield Vietnam all the time. If I choose some UK servers, across the atlantic, my ping is always above 100. I try to stay in the states where I'm in the 40's.
