Why are you thinking GBit?
It will not improve your internet connection. The only place I'd use GBit is to uplink to a busy LAN server; or if you have another GBt machine on the LAN.

I should've elaborated more sorry about that i had long day
lol mcoffee... why do u always say "i had a long day?"
first of all mcoffee u said
"it won't probably give you a speed hyke if it does not as much as you think."
IT WONT HELP AT ALL.
Most cable providers advertised speeds are around 1.5 -3MBps. a Gigabit card on the other hand is 1000. GIgabit cards are for gigabit networking. It DEFINATELY wont "give you a speeed hyke," not just proooobably...
i dont think u had a long day...

on the lan side it would
Only if they had a gigabit switch, and even then, only if at least one other computer linked to that switch had a gigabit NIC.
But...current desktop OS's don't fully support gigabit networking
And you want a 64bit PCI NIC to better support gigabit, as standard PCI gigabit NIC's don't maximize it either. So most consumer level motherboards won't support it fully based on the standard PCI slots they have.
