Hello there
I actually live in Honduras Central America
here the comunications sucks, a new cable company is here and they offer cable-modem so I installed that service, but my speed or ping connections still sucks, I get pings about 600-1000 ms to any server outside my country specially on the US like www.zone.com (http://www.zone.com)
so whats the real problem? I think cable modem will come here to fix the speed thing
but still sucks, can any one tell me technically why??? I think that happens because we go for a bunch of nodes to get inside US servers

Please run a traceroute and post it here so we can examine it.

Do you know how your cable company connects to the US? If it is by satellite, then your pings are reasonable.
