Can some1 people PLZ post what they have in their registry under mstcp, as well as whether they r using dsl or cable. Thx

Its just that I'm sure I had more strings b4 I did a format on my comp, and the patches/this website doesnt offer any info on other strings/values besides the 1s which are already in the patch.

Receive window is still the most imortant setting. With @Home on cable, I use 32767 with great success. If you stay with that setting, any further lag can be blamed on Isp, cable provider or network card settings. Most registry tweaks don't really mean dit because cable bandwidth is too inconsistant to judge by.

and the oddest one

All of these depend on how the machine is being used.

dan: I know you've done it before, but would you mind commenting on "how the machine is being used" affects the RWIN value?

Thanks!

Dannjr, I got a 512k down and 128k up cable con in the uk. I use it mostly for gaming and some downloading (usually big files when dl).

Atm I'm using a mss of 1472 and a rcvwindow of 388608. Is this any good? I don't fully understand the last part of the equation to work out the rcvwindow value:

Whats the "2^2" mean? Is it 2x2(4) or 2 to the power of 2(4)?

And can some1 plz post all the strings they have in their reg? Thx in advance for help! http://www.speedguide.net/ubb/smile.gif

I use 96360 as my RWIN now and it works great. I used to use cablenut's patch but the RWIN was way too high causing stalls (no offence towards cablenut, it is a very good program and for most connections it is ideal). A lot of factors come into play when dealing with the RWIN. I myself recommend using this formula, (speed*latency)/8=RWIN. I also recommend trying cablenut's proggy if the furmula does not work too well. Also you may want to make a post in the DSLReports Tweak (www.dslreports.com/forums) forum as they can be a lot of help also.

On the next version (4.0) I probably will only reccomend it for HIGH bandwith users. My patch is set to a 1MB buffer in testing this RWIN has performaed the best out of others. I also have a few suprises in the new settings.
