I'm fond of windows washer, although it's shareware.

you can set it up to do a quick wash when you boot up and then it'll shut itself down.

Tried that, for some reason it didn't clear the search history. Still get a drop down menu when I type the first letter of whatever I am searching for.

Actually that's the program I was trying to think of, thanks Zooner.

Do you have AOL installed on this PC?

No, would sooner slit my wrists.
The windows washer program worked anyway. Thanks for the help.

This requires the browser be restarted. Close all IE windows and then open again.

Try east-tec eraser! I posted about this programs already removes even alternate data streams, histories on ALL browsers. Even clears locked windows files.

Thanks Cypher. I downloaded the 15 day free trial version. It cleaned up soooooooooo much garbage. I have five days to purchase at 20% off. I am seriously contemplating it.
