...and were an avid gamer, what would you get today? Leaning towards bleeding edge (vs. value) = must be hot right now.
This is a request from a coworker and I am not a gamer. I figured you guys might have some ideas(?)
Thanks,

EDIT - looks like the focus is on portability - looking for a desktop. Don't want bragging rights as much as raw performance - Athena sword, specifically.
Amy suggestions ?
Thanks,

anytime.
I'm kinda out of date on what the best hardware is right now. Especially with BFV, it's screwy on random systems.

Could go Intel P4 Extreme Edition or AMD 64 or AMD 64 fx. Darned near the same performance, just the Intel is substantially more money.
Graphics...the very latest GeForce 6800 Ultra Extreme, or the ATI Radeon x800....
1.0 gig of RAM to start with
WD Raptor 74 gig SATA drives

2 37gig WD raptors
Antec quiet black mid tower

It's unfortunate he won't go AMD. The ASUS P4C800-E DLX is a sweet board. The best of the 875 that I have tried.
Yep :D
THese guys seem to have you covered Skye;)

Thanks for the replies. He's gonna decide over the weekend (and invite me over to help build it).
He's a director at my company so he can burn a few bucks. Found out he already has 9800XT - his old system didn't support 8xAGP so he decided to upgrade everything else.
You gamers are nutz - the video card determines the system - never fast enough is it? ;)
