I am looking for php, java, perl, and all sorts of coding books, but I'm not sure what books are good books to get. Any recommendations?

^ i have that book its not bad its alright i will edit this post later or drop some more books i have a list of them for u...ohh and as for php
and perl their is enough tutorials on the internet for u to learn off of
I have used this one for PHP
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0764549553/qid=1083126554/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/104-2291087-7243106?v=glance&s=books
and this one for ASP
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0072122943/qid=1083126595/sr=1-8/ref=sr_1_8/104-2291087-7243106?v=glance&s=books
Both are quality books IMHO and both come with code snippets.
I'm sure there are better, but these two have served me well.
I found that following the steps in these books was enough to get going and was painless. After you get the feel for passing variables and working with databses, it's pretty much the same, just different syntax.
After you can write some code, you can follow more complicated examples and get to reading other people's code (which is where you learn alot more).

I strongly recommend the O'Reilly Java, and Java Swing books.
The "In a nutshell" books are quite good too.
I plan on getting the Perl In a nutshell and O'Reilly's Perl book this summer. As for C++ i have only ever used Bjarne's "C++ Programming Language," which is a fine book, but not one to learn from, and Nyhoff's "C++ an introduction to data structures" which is an excellent book as well, but also not a starter.
I've a long php/msql textbook as a PDF (~4mb) that I wouldn't mind sharing if you're in need. PM me if it's of interest.
Covered enough of PHP for me to get a good grasp of it for what that's worth.
I've bought several php books, but the one I got the most out of was: PHP and MySQL for Dynamic Web Sites: Visual QuickPro Guide. By: Larry Ullman

Perl...
Programming Perl, Wall/Christiansen/Orwant 0596-000278
Perl Cookbook, Christiansen/Torkington 1565-922433
Learning Perl, Schwartz/Phoenix 0596-001320
minor warning... lots of good stuff in Programming Perl, but the bulk is from the documentation (and can be difficult reading)
I'll update at a more decent hour
