Wasn't too long ago i recommended kreton ram to someone in here. I got some pc-3500 blitz for 92$ 512MB. Its the best i have ever had. Runs dual, without me buying a specially paired pak, etc. Kick crucial and all the other rippers to the curb. My 2.8C is running @3.4 without a flinch, i could hit 3.8 easily, or more. Next time you buy some, don't follow the masses, get yourself some cheap sunglasses-- and ram****

how can it run in Dual Channel mode without being installed in pairs?

it is-- i have 1 gig of ram look at system specs-- i meant matched pairs-- paying extra for matched pairs, when we shouldn';t have to pay extra for quality. it should be the norm

how can it run in Dual Channel mode without being installed in pairs?

No he is talking about them being just a pair or ram sticks, not a "matched pair"

one more time, i bought 2 sticks, kreton's quality is good enough that it runs dual channel- without being a matched pair. They don't offer matched pairs--don';t have to.

Is the Kreton ram just really cheap or is it because it was on sale? I'm going to buy a new rig soon and wondered if I should get the Kreton now or when I buy my comp (probably sometime around May-June). What do you think will happen to the price of the 512mb PC3500 sticks from now till then?

I've never had to buy Crucial in "matched pairs" to run dual channel DDR, that's a function of the chipset. Current rig...2.6C @ 3.38 with Crucial PC3200 sticks, a pair of 512's, and a pair of 128's. I don't know if I can go higher, I have not tried.

Ahh crucial then why do they sell matched pairs? for guaranteed dual channel? Its a ripoff considering its all left up to the chipset.
Thats xms series crucial you are talking about too right? They sell for what about $130 per 512mb? I mean they perform great, but for the money== performance, thats up to the buyer. When it comes to computers or anything really, if you are happy with what you got, then cool.. kinda like that 70's song from LTD, i think it was-- "For you may not drive, a great big cadillac, but just be thankful for what you got""

Well, you probably need to email newegg about that. The ram was priced at retail, 92$ a stick 512. Wasn't a special sale. They are so backordered on it, thats probably why its hard to get. Only wish i had gotten more. I refuse to buy geil---they can have it. Had i not gotten Kreton, i probably woulda paid 38$ a stick more for Crucial. Mushkin and OCZ are overated too...

Crucial is the big OEM memory maker, related to "Micron". They make most of the OEM memory for the big Tier-1 computer builders. You can also purchase from crucial.com directly, so you skip the market other 3rd party resellers tack on to make a profit. But the best part of Crucial is, if you're smart, you purchase their memory according to their memory selection guide. Choose your computer/motherboard make/model, and it spits out the memory that has been tested with your hardware, and guaranteed to be 100% compatible with your system. That way you don't go buying "any old RAM" and crossing your fingers hoping it will work fine, then end up posting on these boards "My system isn't running right".

I run a pair of Kingstons dual channel, not a marketed matched pair, but same part number...not a hitch.
Ram marketed as dual channel matched pairs for twice the price is a rip off no matter who the manufacturer is
