and it sucks.
yeah, the maps are kind of cool.... for infantry. they're way too small for anything but that. the tanks handle exactly the way they do in bf42 (vanilla). oh, and the planes. ick ick ick. they're slow, they're unmaneuverable, they're underarmed, shall i go on? the helo's are the same way. yeah, it's easier to do stuff like hovering, but that comes at a price. but it's not directly that that i mind, it's the concequence of it being easier. it means that your control inputs do less to control the chopper, and the chopper does more to correct itself. that means that you can't control the thing as well as in, for example, dc. you can't do any advanced maneuvers (circling, sideways, etc), nearly as well, and even then, it's sloppy, and you still don't have the control. it's a mockery to the former art (the circling is what i'm concentrating on).
i'm sending it back. the improved graphics and new maps aren't worth worse or the same gameplay (in the case of infantry and tanks).
oh, one more thing, the guiding missles are cool, and the gauge that tells you how long you have to wait to cap the flag is really nice.

Ya can't compare it to Desert Combat.
The tanks handle like WWII tanks, well, one tank is Korean war 1950's era, and another is mid 60's era.
Planes...again, one from the 50's, and one from the 60's. They're not going to be snappy like F-16's and Mirage fighters. Underarmed...I actually find it easier to shoot down planes here than DC. But this game is more about ground combat, not air combat.
The first night I had the game, the day it came out, I'll admit I was half disappointed, because I was trying to compare it to DC. But it's not DC, it's a totally different style of play...it's about co-ordinating with other players, working in small groups, stealth. You can't treat it like a Quake 3 deathmatch style game. That's where I think most of the complaints are generated from about the game. If you try to play like GI Joe solo hero guy...you'll be disappointed. But if you work with a small group, stealthily crawling along on your belly hidden in the grass, and using some smart tactics together with other players to take over a position...you'll find it awesome.

yeah, but that's the problem. it's not new gameplay, it's just better graphics. you could crawl around in the grass in dc/bf too, if they were to upgrade the graphics a little. and i don't know. anygame is made good if you coordinate with other players, but 99% of the time, you're brought down by tkers, team wounders, dumbasses, and immature fools who don't know how to play always ruin that. the only thing is that in bfv, it's essential that you use tactics, whereas in bf42/dc, you don't have to rely on all the 13 yearold punks out there.
i mean, i try to coordinate with other players as much as possible in dc, but sometimes people are just too erratic and unreliable, or their busy camping a base, or whatever.

also...don't forget...as compared to the war, the US did have the "military advantage" (tanks, planes, equipment etc.) but it didn't help since a lot of fighting was ground based in their country....which is what BFV is all about...along with what YOSC said above. teamwork baby....
Dude. I'm more critical of games than anyone here. Some peeps might think they are more critical than me....they're not. I'm super-critical. Trust me....if something is worth damnnation, I will drill it into the ground for all eternity.
When I first played BFV....I was like...what in the blue freaking hell did I just waste my muthafugghin money on? I'm going to bomb the EA corporate building! It was slow...ugly and and did I mention slow??? lol
That lasted about 45 minutes. I then tweaked my in-game setttings a bit, raised up the graphics, selected the right sound settings, and voila....all was good again. The more I played it, the more I came to appreciate the beauty of the game.
While certain vehicles may seem slow....it only adds to the tension of "am I gonna make it through this alive"?
That right there is when I knew that they got the game right....am I gonna make it through this raid alive? That's the question that all the soldiers had on their minds and it's conveyed perfectly here.
There are so many neat little nooks and crannies to get into here and as was stated up above, teamwork is a huge factor in this game.
I absolutely adore this game as I still adore DC. But BFV stands in a category all it's own.
Klaus...I think once you get over the initial shock of it, you'll see that BFV is really a fun game....it's not DC but it shouldn't be either. DC is about speed and precision weaponry because in the desert there is no place to hide. In Nam...it's all about jungle warfare and stealth.
