I downloaded Bit Torrent, installed the program and it seems to work fine for a few minutes. Then it acts just like WinMX does and freezes the computer every few seconds and sometimes even blue screens XP with the physical memory dump message. When it starts this freezing up deal, it drops my internet connection. Every once in a while I can restart the connection and it will work for a few more minutes. I've disabled Mcaffe and Zone Alarm and it does it still. Any clues? I don't wanna give up downloading stuff!!! Oh yeah, I'm running a AMD 1.48GHz with 348Mb RAM and Windows XP.

Are you using a creative labs sound card belive me there is a reason why i asked

Also with zone alarm don't use that firewall it's the biggest resource hog same with mcaffee the links below two free firewalls also a free virsus scanner that actully works very well for free. goto www.zonelabs.com and follow there removal instructions to make sure zone alarm is out. The peformance of your comptuer will increas very much by removing those two.

nstall Outpost Firewall http://www.agnitum.com/products/outpost or Sygate Firewall http://www.sygate.com/, both have FREE and Pro versions and are heads above ZA.

10. Scan for viruses with your antivirus app, if you do not have one get one IMMEDIATELY, AVG 6.0 http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php is an excellent FREE AV app.

I'm using whatever sound card is built into the Asus A7V266E motherboard. I removed Zonealarm and installed Outpost as you said and it's still doing it. I'm hesistant to get rid of McAffe and go with another av for some reason.

Try goto asuses web site update your network card drivers and also sound card drivers, also your chipset drivers as well. I had the same promblem with winmx another idea is to disable the sound card in the bios and see if locks up when using winmx if it does well it's not the sound card drivers if it doesn't then we know the promblem

The sound blaster drivers this is known issue with cause the blue screen.

The removing outpost and mccaffee wouldn't help with the dissconects but those programs to take up alot of system resources.
