I have cablenut and the add on and tcp optimizer

I have winxp

I have comcast cable thats advertised as 3 mb dl 256k upload

I have sygate firewall.

my tcp/ip analyzer results:

Browser/OS = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)
Notes: Read the Analyzer FAQ if the above is not your IP address.

TCP options string = 020405b40103030201010402
MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.
MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 256960
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 2 bits (scale factor of 4)
Unscaled Receive Window = 64240

RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)
bandwidth * delay product:

Your RcvWindow limits you to: 10278.4 kbps (1284.8 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 4111.36 kbps (513.92 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 51 hops

TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 01011100

Precedence (priority) = 100 (flash override)
Delay = 1 (low delay)
Throughput = 1 (high throughput)
Reliability = 0 (normal reliability)
Cost = 1 (low cost)

. Under your LAN connection - properties - general tab, uninstall all the protocols there that you do not need.

2. Open IE and select tools - internet options - connections -
LAN settings, make sure NOTHING there is checked.

3. ALWAYS connect your modem via ethernet (NIC) and make sure you have the latest drivers for your NIC from the manufacturer. Set your NIC duplex mode to 10mb half duplex for Cable, for DSL it is ISP dependent unless you are using a router, if so then set it to 100mb full duplex for both Cable & DSL (the instructions are in my Help & Tips link). If you are using a router make sure you have the latest firmware.

4. Clear your temporary internet files.

5. Power cycle your modem, unplug it for atleast 15 seconds.

6. Download and update then do a scan with SpyBot 1.2 http://beam.to/spybotsd & Ad Aware 6.0 http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download to remove any spyware then install and update SpywareBlaster to stay spyware FREE. YOU MUST USE BOTH AD AWARE & SPYBOT TO ENSURE YOU ARE SPYWARE FREE SINCE ONE FINDS WHAT THE OTHER MISSES.

7. Make sure you do the faster web page tweak in Read1st link.

8. If you have Zone Alarm as a firewall uninstall it then visit Zonelabs.com for further instructions on removing it's left over junk.

9. Install Outpost Firewall http://www.agnitum.com/products/outpost or Sygate Firewall http://www.sygate.com/, both have FREE and Pro versions and are heads above ZA.

10. Scan for viruses with your antivirus app, if you do not have one get one IMMEDIATELY, AVG 6.0 http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php is an excellent FREE AV app.

11. Make sure you have ALL of the latest Windows Updates.

my upload speed has gone up to 240 kbps (before about 180-200) but my download speed keeps fluctuating on those speed tests, usually under 1000kbps. Anything I can double check?

I entered those values in cablenut, changed my nic to 10mb half duplex, did the web page tweak, cleaned temp files, power cycled, lan settings and connection, already had spybot, spyware blaster and ad aware.

Where it saids leave blank try 64240 in both boxes with tcpopts123 set 0

http://www.pcpitstop.com/internet/tracert.asp take this test real quck let me know the resaults or colors that is seen most if you got all green the speed promblem is on your end if red then it's a promblem with the isp except for the 1st hop i have a hunch.

i would turn the modem off for about 2mins and leave it off turn back on also what is the make and model of the modem?? Also if you are using a network cable and have a spare replace it.
also if you are using usb ditch it and use the ethernet and a network card.

It said 100% loss, there was nothing on the graph. I have a Motorola SB4200 surfboard. And I am using my ethernet.

Power Level -16 dBmV that's your promblem right there call comcast and explain the speed and the 100 percent loss
Should be no lower than -15dBmV, and really for a buffer I like -10 or higher.

Make shure all connections on the cable are tight and no corrosion. Thats worth a service call!

is there anyway i can fix that by switching cords or something? I also have my comp, monitor, tv, dvd player, stereo receiver, clock and modem plugged in the same outlet, does that affect it?

The only way to realy fix it check all spilters for gunk on the line then retest your singles but you should make the call tell them to sweep the line.

They sent me an email and I did what they told me and now I got this: Power Level -10 dBmV :D. Now time to get the speed up. I'll start over and post my speeds tomorrow, thanks for the help!!!!

btw this is what i did....
(i had a splitter going to the tv but i took that off as well)

1. With your computer powered down, unplug the power cable from the
back of the modem. If the power cable of your modem doesn't remove from
the back of the cable modem, you will need to unplug the modem from the
wall power outlet
2. Unplug the RJ-45 (Ethernet cable - looks like a phone cord but
larger) cable from the back of the modem
3. Unplug the RJ-45 cable from the back of the computer
4. Wait 5 minutes
5. Plug the RJ-45 cable into the computer
6. Plug the RJ-45 cable into the modem. You should hear a soft click
sound each time the Ethernet cable is plugged in
7. Plug the power cable back into the wall outlet or the cable modem
8. Wait for about 5 minutes 9. Turn your computer on

My guess would've been the spiltter to the tv only a guess
