Hi all. I have been on cable broadband since November with no previous problems. My area got upgraded to docsis and last Saturday my cable company hooked up my new modem. Saturday it was fine. Since then I get disconnected on a constant basis. I can surf 5 or 15 or 20 or 45 mins or so, then the "Cable" light on my modem blinks, goes out, and I am disconnected. I stay disconnected for anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 minutes, then I can surf again, then I get disconnected again.

I have called Tech a number of times. They ran tests which indicated no problems. When I called again I was told there are problems in my area because of switching to docsis. They say there are kinks in the system and to pls be patient, but they can give me no timeframe. Then today I get an e-mail from my cable company stating there are no known broadband problems in my area.

I am being patient but this is quite frustrating and I am looking for any help or advice on this. In the last hour I have been disconnected about 5 or 6 times! Could it be the modem? Do I have no choice except to wait this out? Tomorrow I am calling to schedule a tech service call but would like any of your ideas on this problem. Thanks in advance.

I've been having the same problem and the tech support doesn't do anything. According to them my internet is working fine.

Yeah right....

What Cable Modem do you have? Are you able to check your cable modem signal levels?

Get a new provider if you can adelphia is nothing but promblems.

Also call them and ask if they have alternate dns servers it seemed to help me with that promblem.

I have a Terayon TJ715x modem. WHen it works I get speeds close to the max of 3000. Just took two spped tests and got 2700 and 2800. I have no complaints when it is working. I am just sitting here waiting for it to drop connections again. Adelphia ran some tests to check and claim everything is fine. A cable tech is due any minute to check my tv cable line as I noticed my tv comes in fuzzy at intermittant intervals. Maybe that is causing the internet problems.

I have no other cable choice except Adelphia. With my old non-docsis modem I had no problems like this at all!!!!

SO I figure its either a bad cable reception on the telephone pole (We had squirrels chew thru it once) or something to do with the new docisis modem.

Thanks.
