View Full Version : Do you virtual CD your games?
Just wondering how many of you out there virtual CD your play disks AND have you noticed a difference in performance?
I did this a few months back and noticed a great improvement in load time (epecially for bf42). No CD fumbling. Mine are scratched to hell.
If anyone out there is having poor load times with games and freeze points where the CDROM is having trouble reading, try Virtual CD'ing your play disks.
Free. (http://www.daemon-tools.cc/portal/download.php?mode=ViewCategory&catid=5)
I use Virtual CD (http://www.virtualcd-online.com/)

Yea I use daemon tools to virtual my BF cd..... faster loads, and once you mount the image, you don't even have to keep daemon tools open. The virtual drive will stay up until you use a registry defragger/rebuilder like NTREGOPT...... after that just remount it takes like 2 seconds, then exit daemon tools, ZERO ram usage! :P

Nope, no need for my use.

Thanks Trev.:D I just grabbed this and I like it much better since it's free and doesn't use any Ram. :thumb:

I used ultra-iso to make mine
So did you guys do it to protect your CD's or was there a performance increase?

The period of time my CDROM takes to initialize a CD alone, drives me nuts.
Mind you, all my stuff is middle of the field gamer wise.

Well i sw in the help files some types of protection cause errors but could be ignored, so I let it go. It finished and I tried to run BF and it said it couldn't locate the cd-rom or whatever. I did mount the iso with both Daemon and Alcohol.
Oh well.
try the 30 day trial version of blindwrite / blindread, it worked for me on most games

If you get errors, thats the problem... find a program that wil burn it for you.
BTW check your PM's grimson.
Yup... I rip all my game and run them off the HD

Checked.
I'm just not sure I've got everything set the way it's suppose to be, I rtm and also read their forums but still no luck. It would be nice not to have to dig through cd's for Bf and Diablo and such.
Seems like everyone uses something diff. and loves what they use so it may just be my broken brain.
I will try again tom.

Why is daemon tools not mounting the iso ?? It shows up as mounted in Daemon tools and disk management but not in my computer, so it always asks for the disc.
Why ??
if you mean the game asks for the disc just click no or whatever, sometimes mine does that.

It says it cannot locate the cd-rom, insert the disc and restart the app.
If I hit ok it doesn't do anything.
try hitting cancel instaed.

Well, i got it to work, guess what I ahd to do.
Ok, I'll tell ya, I looke din disk management earlier and guess I never paid attn. to it but I had to assign it a drive letter. Why wouldn't xp automatically do it ??
Anywho, it works now.
Thanks for all the help guys.

Nope. bf is the only game I play, so the CD stays in the drive all the time anyways.
Load time slow this way? Nah, I'm still usually always the first one that logs into a level come level change time, have enough time to jump into a plane, take off, land and capture nearest flag...then level restarts cuz other peeps finally load their levels and join. ///kisses Raptor drive/// :D
Honestly, being that fast to load, join alone, then have to restart the level because others finally join, it gets old and frustrating. I almost wish my computer took longer to load it.

So that's what's been happening to me. I'd jump into a vehicle and start moving and it would say "cypher_138 is no more". I'd check the stats and it wouldn't register as a death.:D
