I'm stupid. When did the medics show up in DC?

I didn't know you could be a medic cause last night on the server, there was a guy in Basrah's Edge that gave me health...now I didn't know what to do with this thing.....although it did revive me a bit but I felt like I was carrying something as I had this health pack box showing on the mini-map.

So what's up with the medics?

There are no medics per se. The Support class carries a knife, shotgun, Med Pack, Mortar, Mines, and Wrench.

Like Scott said, they've been there since day one. F6 then F5 will call for a medic. When someone yells for a medic the icon will flash on the screen telling who ever is medic/engineer to come heal you. Its very useful.. The other advantage is you can heal yourself too if need be. Medics are your friends dont leave base without one.;)
