View Full Version : Battle of 73 Easting Map....beautiful
That is the most realistic desert combat map I've ever seen. The earth tones and sky are just magnificient. Eerily reminds me of past deployments.
Very impressive.
Someone gave them inside info. I wonder how many Desert Storm vets or active duty chumps have helped Trauma create the maps and whatnot for DC.

I agree, they are nice. Especially the skyline.

One of my favorite maps b/c there are only two flags so the fighting is really intense. I love the little village and how there are lots of ways to sneak in and wreak havoc. :p

Yeah the skyline was revamped for .7...so the SCUD guys will have to re-memorize the clouds now...should delay the SCUD whumping for a few days.

It wasent the clouds ya sighted on :D But the base looks bigger so a new point of aim will have to be found I belive....Havent looked at it yet...but now that im thinking about it.....brb
All I can add is that the color tone overall on that map is the best representation I have ever seen captured.
Even in the fading sun....there is still this blinding light that is cast in this weird brown hue.....hard to describe really.
The only way to describe it...once you've been to the Arabian desert and have spent a few days....green hurts your eyes. Everything takes on this brown aura.
I'll have to grab a screenie next time I'm in that map
1600x1200 Resolution 4xAA 8xAF:eek: Game looks sweet!!!!! And runs like a champ.

It pays to be support in that map....I fixed myself several times last night lol.
when there's good players on, strategy and teamwork is the only way to do it...... otherwise the game will end with a 375 - 0 score.
the only way to take the 73 Easting flag if it's being vigilantly defended is with a group..... roll in several heavy/light tanks at the same time, but you HAVE to clear out the defending mobile artillary first!!! most effective way i have found is to use the MLRS from a distance (a spotter really helps here).... rain down rockets to destroy and distract the defenders as your armored column rolls up..... watch the minimap so you know when they are at the gates, then stop and let them mop up and occupy. folks rolling up to 73 Easting one at a time will be blown into a million pieces a million times over.
then, to defend 73 Easting, folks need to move the mobile howitzers into the trenches just outside the fences to set up a perimeter. putting the howitzers in the trenches also greatly lowers your sillouette and makes you harder to hit.... plus, new mobile artillary will spawn after the old ones are moved and dug in, so it is possible to have like 8 or more mobile artillary tanks as a primary (and VERY ugly) defense.
oh, and being support role is the only way to go.
the northwest flag, IMO is the secondary skirmish point. if you have a dedicated and patient squad take and hold 73 Easting (the central flag) for the whole round, the game will probably be yours since the rest of the team will be fighting over the other flag (give and take).
