I gotta find a test machine to install this on. I'm not screwing around with 0.7 since it has worked good for me.

Same here...
Why is it that it says its a tabbed browser, like slimbrowser but I dont have any tabs for my different sites, it just opens new windows (which I dont want) and I cant alphabetize my favorites for some reason....love the browser if I could get those two things fixed.

Well I know those both can be fixed.. but I dont use tabs so I dont know.
I can fix the alphabetized favorites tho
Go to bookmarks, manage bookmarks,
then go to view, then pick how you want them sorted.

Better than 'FireBird' ?
So no one knows how to fix those two problems? This browser sucks if it cant be fixed....

Nope. Still the best browser on the market. I don't care for tabs anyways. I don't see the need. And who cares if the favorites are alphabetized... you can customize them however you want...put them in folders, arrange them yourself.
Not bagging on your preferences ......
Also, as soon as you put the custom user.js file in your phoenix file.. the rendering speed is sped up by about 50% .

Dunno if this helps but you can right click a link to open it in a tab. Just right click "open in new tab"
Also go into advanced settings, and uncheck "hide tab bar when only one tab is open"

view - sort does work with me, and for tabs i use the 3rd mouse button under the scroll wheel. Been using the cvs since earlier this year and i have nothing to complain about, its a great browser.

Hey, that works! Thanks for the little tip.;)
Thats fine that you dont care about the two problems I posted, but that doesnt fix them, they are still there and it sucks because of it :)

I hear ya man. Have ya tried searching the mozilla site? Theres a whole heap of info on that site.
Yea I found a fix for it, but its stupid, you have to run this exe everytime you want to organize the bookmarks, and the tabbed browsing is useless, the browser itself is pretty cool but its got none of the cool perks that slimbrowser does.

To go back on myself, I didnt realize how fast FireFox really is compared to Slimbrowser. Slim will literally crawl on speedguide for some odd reason, so im sticking with firefox. I just hate having to push control T THEN going to the bookmark I want to goto so I dont lose the original page im on, I wish it did this automatically or had an option to enable auto...

Would you like me to post the user.js file containing the pipelining tweak?

I found a plugin that gives you the option to sort....seems with this browser the little extras come in plugins you have to manually install yourself.....
WTF you arsewipes you got me hooked on firefox now! :thumb:
Thanks for the heads up. Installed and working great.
Anyone know, is there a reason FireFox isn't showing colors on nav bars/arrows?
Pipeline tweak? Linky please:D

Put this is c:\documents and settings\(user name)\application data\phoenix\profiles\default\xxxxxxxx(can be any combination of numbers (http://trevor.glasgow.home.mchsi.com/user.js)
YOu will know its the right directory when you see a prefs.js in there too.. just paste this into that directory, then restart firefox.
***instructions***
Paste into notepad, then save as a .js file.
If you can't get this to work, you can get a copy of the prefs.js file, then erase it, paste this into it, then rename is user.js, then put it in the directory
This will only work if the file you are using has an icon of a J. If it has the .txt icon, then you didnt do it right.
:D
*edit* Only works in windows XP, I don't know about the others.

What exactly does this do?

Speeds up web page rendering. COntained in my user.js file is another tweak that lets the browser start rendering the pictures as they are being downloaded, not after they are downloaded.

Ok just right click my link, click save link to disk, then paste it into the directory, that saves alot of the trouble.
THanks Trev. Trying this on a Linux box, but you got me pointed in the right direction.
link for tips I googled:
