your thoughts on voting on the server

as well have all experienced when gaming on the server since 1.6 came out, the voting has been made so easy that any tard who can press TAB and click a button can vote. if its for a good reason, then it;s OK, but now it seems as if people are calling votes just because they can, or because they don;t like that someone keeps killing them.

for example...... last night..... Tobruk.... i was playing, and a couple times i hopped in the axis (the team i was on) mobile howitzer, moved to a point with good coverage of the front row of flags, and did my thing. needless to say, i was racking up the kills, and the prissy little pansies who kept spawning at the same points (and trying to hit me with a RPG from a half mile away, giving away their position) started trying to kick vote me off.

well, i got a couple good laughs about that, but eventually, when my score was at 58 49 and 3, they managed to succeed. i was about to hit a 25 to 1 kill/death ratio..... i was PISSED!!!! it happened right before the end of the round, so by the time i tried to rejoin, the round was over. 20:1! it;s been months since i have come that close to actually smashing something on my desk, but i managed to not do that.


so, anyways... we have (what i see to be) 2 coices...... either make the voting 90% to 100%, or just disabling voting entirely.


the crappy thing about disabling it entirely, is it leaves the other players (notably the SG players) powerless against TKers and such, and if there is a small crowd of SG players, i think it would be nice for them to still be able to change the map or vote a retard off the server. i don;t like the idea of tards comin on the server and being a nuisance, and the SG players just having to sit there and take it........ it would discourage people from returning to the server or spending as much time on it.

more admins sounds like a good idea, but there has to be a line drawn somewhere.... i know from experience that too many chiefs and not enough indians spells mayhem amongst the ranks.



*oh, and BTW..... i know the voting window can be irritating, but if you don;t agree with the vote being called, just click NO (the 8 button, i think) and it will go away.

But as it stands 60% of the time i play there is no mod and Smack tarts ruining around being Retarded etc etc And voting is Useless Cuz of the lack of votes

Or maybe make all SG players Mods that way there will be a mod in 24/7

i dont mena that i think u guys admin well, just there seem to be less tards and more sgers on when admins are around, liek peak hours server is great, but on teh odd ones... lol

I'd vote for taking the voting 90% to 100% and see how that works for the mean time. Adminning gaming servers isn't all fun and games all the time. It does take away some of your gaming enjoyment while your booting off some smacktard, asking players to stop doing this and that. Basically, sometimes your missing out on the fun yourself. As I've been adminning BF servers for over a year, im getting use to adminning and playing at the same time at least. :)

The clan im a member with, we all have admin powers to the server...kicking, map changes, ect. Only a few of us (I being one of them) have exclusive rights to the server as for changing maps in the rotation, starting / stopping / rebooting the server and so on. We have over 40 members and it's worked out great. We could try adding more admins, as I think it would definitely help make the SG server a better place to play on. :)

Here is my take on things for what it''s worth and that probably aint much.

The SG server has been a great source of enjoyment for me. I have a lot of fun on the server. It's a great place to hang and unwind....play a game with friends from the forums. It has been such a pleasure for me that I've even invested in the server because I want to see it continue to exist as long as the game is fun.

So I just want to see the server stay fun.

Personally, being a public server, I do not see how it is possible to keep the idiots out. They will always find the server. The more mods you have, the less they will be able to enjoy the game and isn't that what we are all there for? To enjoy the game and eachother?

The only real solution I see is to go private and I think that would be bad because we just don't have enough SG members to support such a thing.

I have thought up all kinds of solutions that would solve all the problems but they aren't supported in the admin tools. Like TK'ing. If you TK, you are automaticall thrown into limbo as a spectator for 5 minutes. That would be a great feature but it's unsupported.


I guess I'm just a fan of penalties that are dished out automatically and transparent to the other players.

Oh well. Kill 'em all! LOL

IMHO, the vote is more trouble than it's worth. With limited tools for administering the server, it's up to the mods to do their job. Too many mods and they lose interest because they aint playing.

So I guess it all comes back to the fun factor. If you are having fun, then the idiots won't affect you very much. Maybe I'm not correct in my assessment of the fun factor because I do have a bit of a feeling that this very well may be a "competition" for certain people.

In any case, it's a fun game and I hope it stays that way.

Im all for disabling voting and adding more admins....One thing is though we need a good idea of the rules and whats is a kick/ban offense..

Whats about Language?? Were all guilty of this...

What about the tard who leaves in the helo to use it as a taxi??

Or the ass who flys by players running in a buggy to get the airplane first??

Lots of stuff to be addressed....I think it would be a very bad idea to let each make his own rules...Hell if I could enforce everything that pisses me off it would be a cold ,dry,barren server....I have to bite my tongue and ADMIN MYSELF alot..

I usually work from 9am-6pm - off on Mon&thurs....If im home the remote log is open 95% of the time while im surfing...Just start yelling for a ADMIN and name who's the tard and what they are doing..Ive got no problems kicking anyone wether it be a [SG] or a stranger....I didnt ask CAT for this privilege so I could watch tards run rampant..

Yup...I know ive missed bad doings because im caught up in my game..Get on a good run with my SU-25 and I'll miss anything short of a small nuclear detonation...Just keep slapping me till I wake up..

That's part of my point though....I don't want to bother anyone....it's more fun when all the SG peeps are playing the game.

That's why I'm getting better btw....having you guys against me...that is why I switch teams, not to be an ass or anything, but to have the best go up against me so I can better myself in the game.

So I would rather have less mods and more players. If you are too busy being a mod....what fun is that dude? that sucks lol.

Yeah I know what your saying but if anyone asks to be a admin hopefully they understand that some of the fun will be lost and that there is more sh*** than giggles...It's my love of the game that makes me willing to give up some my time/fun/whateveryawannacallit to hopefully make it more enjoyable for others.

It would be nice if the server was able to log IP's and match them with user names. Then all we'd need is a secret "report" button for SG members. We could really weed out the bad eggs then.

I think leaving the voting on is good...but raising it up a bit. It gives the SG peeps something to use when us admins aren't around, yet I realize the tards came come in and try to initiate a kick. Ideal the tard will never be able to rally enough votes up to kick any SG peeps. Another reason to wear the SG badge on your name.

One thing I want to encourage....if you get TK'd...don't TK them back (like 2 different SG'rs did on 2 separate occasions last night). Just let an admin know...period. I was there last night, yet someone TK'd back a TK'r....then a big arguement broke out. Don't lower yourself to TK'ing them back...just let us know. TK's happen by accident...but even if they puposefully TK'd you, don't TK back. It only encourages more smacktard behavior from them, and others.

Problems with clans like KOF? Post it in the forums, let us admins know....once we know, we can do something about it. I added an announcement to the server that there is no clan practicing or stacking of teams by clans. Now that that rule is posted...if they come and do that...we can now kick them if we need to. Yeah it may take a few times for an admin to catch them...but lets do this the righy way. You can't just go kick for no reason....we must explain our rules to the players...be fair enough to at least warn them once.

I've asked a couple to help out with the admin...so hopefully we can spread out the policing.

I wish to keep this server a fun and fair place for SG'rs first...but we have to keep it a public server, else the server will be a barren wasteland. Not fun with only 3 -6 players....perhaps 10 at the most if it were only SG peeps.

Don't forget...some of us admins play under different names at times...so you may not think an admin is present..but one just might be! ;)
