desktop help please

I just reformatted an older gateway I have . and put win 98se on it. Problem is I cant get the resolution on anything but 640x480. I have a pavillion m50 monitor hooked up to it also. I didnt have a disk for the m50 drivers but I used ones that windows provides. I have looked for the drivers on hp's site but no luck yet. Any help out there??

Sounds like a video driver issue. What video card are you running? Onboard video?

Its onboard video. Device manager doesnt list anything being wrong.

Yup, ya need to head over to gateway's website and download the video drivers for that system.

Ok, I went to hp's site becasue its an hp monitor. downloaded the drivers, can see that they are in the list but it says the disk labeled hp monitor is now required, then says its provided by manufacturer. I dont have that disk. Any ideas on that one??
